Im starting this thread because i am most likely going to drive for USX. My orientation is in Shippenburg PA on 11/6/13. I will drive there cause im only 2 hours away and i dont want to deal with the bus. I heard horror stories.
My experience with usx so far has been good. My recruiter is very nice. His name is Shaun. He told me that i could do to NE regional or East Regional. And after my 150 hours of training id go solo. I hope that is true cause i do not want to do team driving for 8 weeks.
Im nervous about going to work for a mega carrier but i need to get experience under my belt. My father has been a car hauler my whole life. i grew up in the cab with him and truck driving is all i want to do. its in my blood. I want to eventually do heavy haul and specialized loads.
If anybody on here is driving for USX please tell me what im getting myself into. Ive done tons of research and have read some good and some bad things about them.
Just a few quick questions, do they give you a CB? Fridge? invertor? Was my recruiter lying to me about being able to go solo after training? how do you like usx?
thanks. Be safe drivers!

Good luck !
You made the right choice in picking US Xpress to start your career at.
I met a driver from Boston. He did NorthEast for 3 months. He did well. He switched over to reefer when a buddy of his joined US Xpress.
I don't know the answer about if you'll have to team after training. Most drivers have to but I'm not sure how NorthEast regional works. When we signed up...we got mixed messages from US Xpress. One person told us we had to train 120 hours. Others said 150 hours. After completing 158 hours of training....we were told we only needed to do 120 hours since the wife & I were going to team. Bring it up during orientation to confirm what the recruiter said.
They don't give you a CB, fridge or invertor. You'll have to buy all that. US Xpress allows an invertor up to 1,700 watts. US Xpress sells them in their company store for about $149 when not on sale. $99 when its on sale. Search the internet for a better price.
We bought one of those college dorm fridges from Wal-Mart with the warranty. If it breaks...you can get it switched out at any Wal-Mart.
The office people in US Xpress suck ! Many of them but not all are unprofessional. That's my pet peeve with the company. Other than, I like US Xpress.JakeBrakeRem Thanks this. -
Thank you so much. So you think USX is a good company? if i do have to team drive will they pair me with a good match or a random?
cause i love country music but hate rap music. -
They will try to pair you with someone that lives in your state. Other than that, they don't care who they pair you with.
Be open to who you team with. My trainer was a recovering racist.... he said his favorite person he trained was a black woman. They laughed so much the time flew. -
lol ok. im a little nervous on trusting some one to drive an 18 wheeler while i sleep. i guess if i do have to do it itll only be for 8 weeks. That is right though right? only 8 weeks then i have the option to go solo?
-
8 weeks then solo
