they should be able to catch plenty of 4 wheelers texting and driving like that, i see tons of them every day holding there phones down low where they think they are out of everyone's sight but i can see it clear as day.

Let's not forget about those drivers with a cell phone stuck in their ear instead of using Hands Free, they're just as bad and should be treated the same way.

Actually studies have shown hands free is just as bad as holding the phone. Its a cognitive issue more than anything else. Drivers with the billy big rig headsets think they are being safer but they are still less in-tuned with what is going on outside their conversation. I wouldn't have a problem at all with having to stop to use the phone. It's still better than a pay phone.

Idk why people think that truck drivers learned so much more than the average driver. The bottom line is that regardless of what you drive you went to dmv took tests and acknowledged that your license is a privilege and not a right. No one should be distracted while driving. And distracted is the key word

What would be your take on this?

It might be better if truck drivers did NOT have cellphones in their trucks, only used the Qualcomms for their communications to their dispatchers.

That's a really big 10-4 on that for sure. Even though there are laws against it people around me while I am driving are texting or reading their texts. As far as I am concerned texting is for the birds, my god it takes me forever to send one message with the tinny little screen and keyboard that you have to press three or for times for the letter to get on the screen. Horrible stuff. Cheers

Absolutely correct sir, even a talking passenger might distract you, if him/her makes you thing to hard. Driving requires full attention at all times, not just part time. One fraction of a second could be the difference between heaven or hell. Keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road and don't let passengers dogs or cat voodoo you into the ditch. Cheers

When you have a head set on would almost constitute you as deaf person because you sure can't hear anything else, like train or EMS services with siren on. And what ever else you would require hearing for while driving.Cheers

Might work for company drivers, but not O/O's. My husband runs his business from his cell phone. Not while driving, but when he's unloading, he's calling for loads. Take away his cell, and you take away his ability to earn.

    baha and NavigatorWife Thank this.
