I finally got a load to Indiana on the seventh day where they let me sit for two days until getting back to Michigan. Then they had the audacity to tell me to come back the next morning. My God what an awful experience. These idiots gave me "cash Loads" and "bonuses" then took them out of my check as cash advances. Hours of service were merely a joke. They tried to force me to take team loads by telling me to lie to the shipper, tell them I'm picking up another driver down the road which I refused. I'm not driving 24 hours straight. ugh. Glad to be back home. I'm sure getting my last payche3cks will be the next nightmare.

Glad you finally made it back!
No need to drive for scum bags like that man!

I would be sending out applications all weekend and find a better gig.....It sounds like ANYTHING would be better than working for those idiots!
Best of luck and keep us updated...I hope they at least pay you what they owed but it sounds like a shoddy run operation.

0 days would be my answer. 1 night if the pick up was for the morning, or something like that. Usually they have loads ready to go back soon as you of-load,or you might have to run mt somewhere to get a load. Some mt miles are better than sitting for 6 days and nights in some god forsaken dessert town.
What have you been doing for 6 days? Do you have a lot of books with you? How do you pass the time? And who pays your meals for those 6 days? That is incredible that they would let you sit for that long. Cheers

It's amazing from reading this post at the amount of people that will let them self's get pissed on because they are afraid of what a company might put on a dac report. No wonder trucking company's can do what they want to drivers because no one has any balls any more. After 24 hours with no pay i would have put the truck in the wind, end of story. Can always find another job. Not all company's use that crocked dac report and any company worth working for would understand what had happened to you.

I believe I would become a whistleblower on this company if there was anyway to prove they had drivers pulling a team load by one driver doing all the driving.

Good luck on finding a new job, there must be something in the wings waiting for you.

It's not so much the DAC as they would win a civil suit for about $3 a mile and the cost of recovering a truck. That can get up in the thousands.

Most drivers get layover pay. He just needed to be more assertive with the situation. If anything leave the truck where it sits and take a bus. Looking at all the alternatives it's not going to kill anyone to sit. It's the path of least resistance. Think about it, if you get mad and take off you'll be sitting at the house anyways. So if you sit there or at home there isn't much difference for a truck driver. The difference is the after effects. Some take pride in their reports.

Consider it a lesson learned for not doing your homework when looking for a job. He handled the situation correctly.
