In reply to the post your looking at with the combination of your truck in trailer your looking at a total combination of aprox 11000 lbs and for a standard license you can drive anything up to 26k with a trailer of 10k so as far as weight no but what comes into play is the hazmat and that I am not sure and I dont want to give you the wrong answer I mean no it is not a reportable quantity of 8 or 3 but as far as civilian vehicles I'm not sure about the regulations in regards to your state so I would focus on finding that out

 

Actually when I looked it up it was hazmat 6.2 inhalation hazard

The chlorine is the kicker. Just carry water and soap. You can carry a small amount of concentrated chlorine tabs that would do the same job.

 

I think you need to read post #5 that Prolaznik made! There is no one GVWR size that fits all as far as DOT numbers go! Every state is different--in CO any vehicle that is involved in a commercial biz has to have DOT#s---they've even been making 1-2 truck landscape companies get #'s. In the OP's case, his "Chlorine" is most likely Sodium Hypochlorite Solution (same as pool bleach), which is a Class 8 corrosive.
I've hauled much of this same product myself, always under a Class 8 placard.
The inhalation hazard doesn't apply. The OP has a chlorine solution (liquid) that has a low % of chlorine in the mix.
It does require placards, as 300 gals = approx 2,400 lbs, which is far above the 1,001 lb reportable threshold.
It is also designated as "bulk packaging", as the tank is over the 119 gallon threshold. Therefor it must run a "UN" numbered placard.
