So today I am replacing a tire for the third time in 3 months. I have some kind of issue here but no-one seems quite clear on what is out of kilter so I thought maybe someone here has an idea we haven't heard yet.
The inside tire on the front drive (drivers side only) keeps wearing out on the inner side with little or no wear on the outer.
This is not repeated on the passenger side. That outer drive has almost no wear with 3 months 18000k but the inner has the edge almost worn to the cords in 3000k. Any ideas?

Send your info and pics to Mike Beckett @ MD alignment... he will tell you what's wrong -
Bent housing ?????? Park on a level spot and put a level across on top of both tires, now go to the other side and do the same. If the reading on the level is different, you got a BIG problem.

Will try that tmrw, I don't think it's the rim pinner, they swap the tires already on the rim, so it would have to be three bent rims in a row.
When you say housing do you mean the axle coming out of the diff has shifted or bent up a degree? Wouldn't that burn out the wheel bearing by now? -
No, he means the actual axle housing.

I know and can almost say for sure that your outer wheel bearing is loose. Check it out n let us know. That is a very common problem associated with loose bearings. John @ I&S Truck Repair in Acheson just did an MD Alignment on my truck n he really knows his stuff.

Any updates on the issue ??I'm encountering a similar problem but I think its a spring mount gone a little sideways , i'm going in for a complete alignment next week.

I'd almost be willing to bet money it was a bearing issue...thats the biggest cause of that. Some shops dont preload the bearing to even 1/4 the torque that they are supposed to... Even from brand new I have seen this...

We still haven't got it settled yet. Something is off but since it is an oilfield truck they won't involve an alignment shop. For now we are rotating inner to outer tires on the dually to extend the tires lifetimes.
