    Hi drivers,

I am still a student at Interstate Truck Driving School in St Paul. I graduate at the end of November and though I'm hearing most say you need to start out OTR, I know there has to be some sort of local LTL, gravel, tanker home nightly jobs around.

I am located in Eagan, MN which seems to be a huge hub for numerous terminals and companies. Does anyone have any suggestions on companies to talk to or any to especially avoid? I don't mind spending a night or two away on occasion, but don't really wish to be out for a week/s at a time if possible.

I don't mind touching freight, have a good driving record and work habits.

Any suggestions anyone can offer would be appreciated.

I see billboards around the metro for FedEx Freight hiring, USF Holland, Sanimax (no thanks!), and a few others.I don't know what they require for experience though, so can't speak for them. We have positions where I work, but will not hire students. Good luck in your search, if I can be of any help, please let me know.

Check Careerbuilder website. Food service companies are good paying jobs if you want more hometime; sometimes home every day.

Nights could work, depending on the opportunity.

You might look into Magnum. I don't know much about them now, but I use to drive for them back in the 90's when I came out of school. Good starter company. You can run OTR, LTL, or regional with them. I think their terminal in the Twin Cities is in Blaine on the north side. Good Luck
