56,000lb JD excavator, but needs to be axled for Ar. Can't do it with the Star. Could get weights with the short bus, but not anymore... Would put me @93,500 at least I'd guess, and thats with low fuel. They'd give me 20 an axle, but can't get that much up front, so would be over 40k on the drives

Yep, but as long as you do not enter on I81 you go around the back side of the scales, Show your permit and have a nice day. I81 coming out of Va. will make you go on the scale

 

I said that to Dave......If I'd only hooked onto a 3 axle!
BTW Carl, half, maybe, considering, buying a 3 axle trailer. 48' plus a flip, would give me @28-29 in the well and be legal for Ca when the flip is up. Boom trough in the rear, and undecided on a full deck or machinery neck yet. Hydraulic too, picking stuff up off the ground is BS anymore lol
Swing out outriggers and probably a flip neck in case I need to get more weight off the drives. 80-90k lb capacity.

Hey I got one of those, except for the hyd neck. And mine is 55 ton

 

Sounds good. How many ton rating? Me I would go with the machinery neck. This full deck is kinda a dead weight issue.
I could still store all my junk on a machinery neck..
Yes the hyd. neck is good. I blocked my trl up Sat. and it sunk in the lot. dry lot too boot. Was fun getting under it this morning. Thsnk goodness for double lockers. Haha

 

I would never need a 50 or 55 ton trailer, with a 3 axle truck. More weight and trailer than I would ever need.... Figured I'd save some weight by having a 40 or 45 ton one. Would still be able to pull "normal" freight that way.
81 would be about THE way to get into Tn, unless you were to drop into NC.
Hell, if I can get my empty weight to around 40-41k, I'd be better off with a 3
