Congrats on your new career. If your honest, hard working with an open mind and tons of patience, you'll have a great career.
I suggest keeping this thread going with your experiences. They've been quite a few new drivers lately asking about Maverick. They seem like a good place to work, but since you are just starting, it should be helpful to many if you can enlighten them.
Again, good luck, and stay safe out there.
One thing I would add. Take your time and consider what you're doing before you do it. Most accidents happen because the driver is in a hurry and doesn't think before they act. I've been driving since 1977, and I still read my atlas on a regular basis along with the GPS. If you don't have a motor carriers road atlas, get one before you go anywhere, and read it often. When you go on a trip, look over the route and see where you're going. The GPS is wrong really often. I would never put my trust in one completely. Common sense is the most important part of this career. And remember, the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked. There's literally hundreds of experienced drivers here on the forum who are more than willing to answer your questions, or anyone elses. All you have to do is let us know. Happy trails!

I received my approval for orientation today for the RAT division . I have not made up my mind yet to go with Maverick as I'm waiting on a local gig that may come through in the next week or so and tanker position which wont make me any offer until my HAZMAT endorsement comes back (hopefully within a couple weeks). Once I have all my options in order I will make my decision.

I've been very impressed so far with my recruiter and all the positive comments on this board. I still have a couple questions that some seasoned Mavericks may be able to answer.

1. I live about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, a few miles from I-79 and about 12 miles from AK steel, does anyone know of any trainers in my area?
2. I see Maverick trucks every day on the roads in my area (sometimes as many as 3-4 a day), would this be a good spot for weekly home time?
3. If I were fortunate enough to be hired on, would my FM be able to get me loaded or unloaded on a Friday and/or Monday every week at AK steel? (i assume that's where all those trucks are going every day in Butler)
