One could easily determine if the trainer/Mentor is going to be any good simply by the attention the trainer/Mentor is giving to the student right from the start.
A good/decent trainer will set up the guidelines, or the rules of the truck, what he/she expects of the student, find out what the student thinks are his/her weakest points, and of course the strongest points. A simple understanding of what is ahead is required before any confidence (either way) can be attained, confidence and understanding is key to any teaching or learning environment. A good trainer/Mentor will take the time to figure out what the students needs are...not necessarily what the curriculum requires, but what the student requires above the set protocol of the curriculum.
I could go on with my rant...but I did this 3 years ago in a thread I started....be my guest: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/swift/127286-mentor-why-bother.html

Havent run "team"since I was too young to drive w/Dad--but mama has come along over the years from time to time--and can sleep thru ANYTHING!--LOL--and like posted b4 you need a system--warning whatever--and since she only came out the drivers side from the bunk--if we stopped and seh got out AFTER me--she would stop--b4 she close the door--and just push air seat inflator and raise it ALL the way--up--soon as I opened the door--I knew IMMEADIATLY she left the truck--since I NEVER put air in the seat---LMAO

Same here. Me and my 2nd tariner got into a fight and as soon as she got out of the truck I was tempted to leave her at the truck stop. She also tried to trick me into getting out so she could probably leave me.Truckergirl0720 and NavigatorWife Thank this.

I myself had a top of the line trainer! / co driver ..But his last trainee b4 me was crazy!!! The guy went all crazy and pulled the brakes going down the interstate in Chicago at 4 in the afternoon!! He called the company and they told him to bring him back to the terminal and not to let him drive..... Then they put the guy in his own truck ! Lol he lasted about 2 weeks
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I did that too!! Lol'olhand Thanks this.

At least at my company, they will not call on the phone if they see that the truck is moving (and in most cases they will not take your call either). They don't want to be on the phone with you at the time you happen to get involved in an accident.hauler881 and NavigatorWife Thank this.

So you did things right and he still drives off after having to move the pillow on his seat? That's pretty messed up.
When I was running team we always looked for the other guy's shoes and put the atlas on the seat if we got out. I also knew my friend never goes anywhere without his hat and if it wasn't on the dash he wasn't in the truck. He'd probably wear the hat to bed if it wouldn't mess up the bill.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Old shoe, that should be your new handle. Lol.

I hate to break the news to you, but that sounds like you were left on purpose. Were you guys involved in a heated argument before you stopped?hauler881 and Arizona..Fats Thank this.
