Farm2Fleet is also good and they let you choose the loads you want.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
LS has a lot of flatbed/step freight. I cant speak for mercer. LS will force you on elogs and mercer wont if that makes a difference for you. LS you find your own freight, mercer recommends some but you can find your own. I dont think the Mercer board is a searchable though as the LS board.

I'd spend sometime researching the companies and talking to recruiters and drivers for each. Then you can decide for yourself. I personally run for Landstar so if there is anything you want to ask feel free to pm me. I've also heard good things about Mercer and Farm 2 Fleet.

I've been leased to both companies and they are both good but different also.
At Landstar you have to be much more aggressive chasing freight and building relationships with agents as I'm sure you already do with brokers now. Most of the best freight never makes it to the load board so it takes a new guy some time to get established. At Mercer we can book freight ourselves off of our load board but we also have a coordinator watching for freight while we are driving. The catch is that even if you spot a load that you want and commit to it every guy who is higher than you are on the inbound board will be offered that load first and you will only get it if they all refuse it. Over here it's best to try and book your reload long before you deliver and that way if there are already guys sitting empty in the area they will likely pass on the load because they wont want to wait that long for it. Having said that Mercer has so much freight that I hardly ever sit and am very happy here.blairandgretchen and Travelinman Thank this. -
Where does Mercer run? What types of freight? I know the OP is talking about Flat and step but what else do they run? Thanks.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Don't drink the KoolAid, and Mercer is doing E-logs and won't be long and they will make all there OP's have them just like Landstar is doing,
Dryver, blairandgretchen, BAYOU and 1 other person Thank this. -
depends on if you want eobr.
if you don't, your better off doing your own thing.
there are a total of 5 choices. 4 run 48 states and canada. not sure on the 5th doing canada.
personally, i like the option of picking off any board. and not having to take a number. but they're all good companies. and have freight. that won't make the public boards.Last edited: Nov 8, 2013
