I am looking at CRST for my training because my credit is shot and I can't qualify for a loan, as with Roadmaster, for instance. Per this string, I am going to look at Prime tomorrow. I hope Prime doesn't require credit and accepts a contract instead. CRST starts paying at .25, then gradually increases over the year...does that sound about right for a newbie pay?

.25 CPM is low even for anew driver. Go with Prime or Swift.

    savage8000 Thanks this.

yea there's a lot of them for swift they do have a lot of accidents and they pay horrible that .25 is paid on truck shortest not truck practical. Yea not good at all. If you want to be trained to drive a truck you're kinda stuck actually you're BEST option for training is to find an owner operator who will train you. You'll learn how to drive, fill out a log book, back, etc and you'll be put in real world driving situations. Might not get you a job but you can always go back to a mega and go through their training for free and then make the rest of the class look bad...might even make the trainer the stick you with look bad. Just saying that's probably the best way to learn how to drive a truck now days. CDL mills don't care. The mega carriers go through drivers like they're going out of style and treat you horribly for the most part. And I've seen a lot of people and heard a lot of complaints about a lot of the CDL schools out there, I went for a day and threw in the towel it would've been a waste of my money and I wouldn't have got the training I needed. My advise is to find an O/O that will train you and then let you use his truck to test with.

I definitely will, thanks for the feedback. The Prime website doesn't state where their schools are located, but I don't really care. I am in Miami, but wanting to relocate to Maine in the near future...

Ok maybe I posted in the wrong area? I have been driving a long time, I was hoping for info on a flatbed training company that will train and take an 06 truck.

Does Prime pay any differently for flatbed vs reefer? I'm kinda leaning towards flatbed.

Mercer they take any truck and will train you for a couple extra days but you need your own flatbed or lease to own one of theirs
