Last night running on I70 in Indiana I hit the pothole at 60mph. I thought I bent the rim when I heard. 20 min later I stopped on Loves truck stop to go to restroom and check the truck. Figured that I have a broken leaf spring on drivers side... Now, when I damage the state property i have to pay hefty tickets + cost of repair. Does it work the other way around meaning that I should be compensated when state property does damage to me?
what is the procedure in this case?

if it did that much damage to your truck. think about the cars, and the lawsuits.
-
How can you prove it was that pothole that caused the damage to your truck? If they paid money out to you, everyone would want money for damaged equipment from the right lane of I-70 in western Indiana. Sorry to say it ... but I think this is just one you will end up having to pay for ... likely not worth pursuing ...

That story is nothing....
6 years ago there was three of us hauling sat in tri-axles to Chicago from Louisville.
One of our drivers hit a pothole just past the rest area North of Indy.
He bent the rim so much it had a 2" crease in it. I'm surprised it was still holding air. Tore off the brake chamber, bent the S-Cam, and ripped the air lined off.
I put my vise-grips on the service line, bolted the parking brake, and rolled onto Chicago then back home.
The boss couldn't believe the damage nor that he actually drove it the rest of the way. The load got delivered
BTW, the company didn't have authority to be in Illinois.

well, I spoke with my company and they said that my deductible is $2500 and that my repair most likely be way less than that (I am not so sure about that). Simply, I dont know yet do I have a bad kingpins now, shocks, alignment etc etc. You know what I mean. I did some research on pothole damage reimbursment and its not likely that I will get any money... You can file a tort claim but are you gonna get any money that is really hard to tell

You probably don't want to file a claim even if it is more than your deductible ... that could cause your insurance rating to go down, which will make your rates go up. My insurance agent told me a claim is a claim is a claim, whether you have a claim for $5,000 or have a total loss, it counts the same in their eyes. May want to discuss that with your insurance agent.

I get that, but my brain dos not get that my deductible is $2500. Anybody that I know their deductible is around $1000...
