Good day all. Ive recently took over managing the shop at a small trucking company. Small fleet, mostly Internationals, with a few Freightliners to keep me on my toes. One issue Ive not been able to fix is the park circuit for the wipers on one truck. Replaced the wiper switch, motor and arm assy. both relays, and fuse. Wipers will work on hi/low but will not return to park when shut off. Delay function is hideous. They will only run about a half cycle, but never the same direction. Just kinda do what they want. Ive started tracing wires from the motor to the harness but before I dig all the way through I want maybe some reassurance that this sounds logical. I was trying to figure out which plug on the pass side firewall would be for these. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Josh

what do you mean when you say, "return to park?" does that mean that they don't hide behind a covering/drop down below the hood cowl or does that mean it says up when turned off as in a mid stroke?
-
many bad switches out of box. try different one.
-
By park, I do mean they do not return to the rest position by the cowl. They stop where ever they are when they are turned off.

Power is supplied to the relays from a body control module in between them and the fuse panel. If it's not a harness issue I bet that BCM is bad. Have you checked for 12V on the park circuit?
-
yeah, my prostar has body control model, it sucks cos they don't need to have the BCM on every #### circuit but everything in my international is controled by it. I think they did it cos it cheaper to be able to program all the nuances that these different companies want (like day time running lights) as opposed to hard wiring them. it irritates me that they didn't have the common sense to realize that some things don't need to go through a BCM.
