Im just wondering if any of you were to start all over again, and after seeing the major changes in this industry, and companies come and go, where would have like to begin all over again and for what reason?

If I was a single man I would probably live in a truck for about 5 years with no bills except cell and wifi. I would own nothing, but what would fit in the truck. I would go to a hotel every now and then to get out of the truck and save everything I made and bank it, Then I would back up and re-group to see what is next.:biggrin_25517:

Well, if I couldn't be born rich, then I'd find me an ugly rich woman and marry her!:biggrin_25523:

OK seriously, I really wish I had started trucking when I first got out of school. I sort of wanted to do it, but got caught up in a lot of other things. Didn't get into it until after another career plus a few other jobs.

But I can't help but think that if I had gotten into it young enough, (and had been smart enough) that I could have owned a pretty fair trucking company by this time in my life. . .

It just comes under the heading of "coulda-shoulda-woulda". . .

I wish I had started 10 years ago instead of going back to college and obtaining a (worthless) degree. I probably could've retired by now.

Well, if I could start all over, I wouldn't do anything different..I love being a trucker, it is in my blood, I have been fortunate to work with some great people, and despite what others say, I have made some really nice money in the process. I guess if I could change one thing, I would have gone OTR sooner than 5 years ago, (I drove locally for 6 years prior to that)..Good luck!!

That's a pretty good one Notarps. I think if I had to do it all over.. I'd be a LOT more promiscuous.

I would have worked harder to hold on to the last of our trucks we had to turn in. The last truck we had was actually my fathers and when I went to turn it in I was offered the opertunity to buy it for like $15k it was a 5 year old 379 pete calander truck with only 250k on it. I still don't know why I turned it down other then being own on the industry all together at that time.

Oh and then there is a girl....... Isn't there always a girl?

MM, amazing how many men can say "then I met ...." and the rest is history! As to the original point, I also would have gotten into this a lot sooner, probably in my twenties. Would have saved a lot of headaches. Although I would have missed a lot of those college parties, wait, thats what caused most of the problems!lol As was stated already, would've, should've, could've!
