Yesterday I replaced turbo for 1st time @ 1,083,000 miles, was still working but the actuator was bad, and i decided to replace it all (Volvo D13, 2008 , this motor is original still pulling ok, great on fuel. I agree with posters mentioning Cummins can be worked in many places. I had to wait in Waco/Robinson TX from Saturday evening until yesterday/Monday morning to have my turbo done, when lazy Volvo shops open. With Cummins maybe i could find a Freightliner shop open 24/7. This is what i used to do with my last truck, Volvo 770, Detroit D60motor, no need to wait for Volvo shops only. Also, Volvo parts are more expensive, i paid 4900$ for turbo kitt installed; i'm not sure but for Cummins could be cheaper.

yeah even cummins is a piece of junk with all this new technology. my 2010 volvo 780 with 450 isx on it which i just got few months ago is getting the engine rebuilt at only about 280000 miles. Theyre all crap nowadays but i dont blame the engineers who built them i blame the #### governments who wants to suck our blood every chance they get, now theyre doing it with the excuse of cleaning the air which is all bullcrap. anyways i wont go into that now but get an older engine and/or truck its better than the new crap

280k only? What are you pulling heavy loads mountains? Do you have warranty yo cover the job? My D13 came with only 250k motor warranty and i didn't buy extend;i'm lucky, i have 1,096,000 miles still original motor, i did injectors recall only but i spent $$ in emission repairs.

Volvo+volvo engine would be my choice, any and all of them have issues, all tech geniousses at any dealer can work with guidance. Make sure you research yourself the problem before you drive into their shop.

our company has it all. Volvos with D16, D13, D12, Cumins ISM, ISX and Detroits 60.
WE say go Cumins first, then Cumins, then Cumins. If you can't find one, go Volvo.

Well I will say I have already started hating Volvo D13 as at only 25410 KMS it have started making a loud noise and what is being suspected is either Injectors or the EGR valve. When I talked to the area rep. what was his answer to the noise is that 85DB noise is acceptable in the cab. so I just asked him that would he sit in my car for 10 hours a day just for a week? then there was no answer. It gives a bad reputation to Volvo network. I have had 05 Volvo with Cummins in it and have done over 1092457 KMS on it with no problems with it. all of a sudden I replaced new fleet guard filter and full synthetic oil which was done regularly on this truck and the filter got stuck which didn't let it run more that a KLM and #2 got seized and made a crack in the block. got it towed home and removed the filter which was still holding enough pressure to make all my cloths and face full of oil. What a disaster. what could have gone wrong on that is someone can tell me then please put your effort to let me know. Thanks.

Do you want to pull freight or just bobtail? From what I've seen and people who had a volvo. Cummins will outpull a Volvo without a doubt. I've driven many Cummins and had some problems, but never anything major.
