After you plug-in I would instantly try rebooting before trying to access the Internet. Too bad you cant just keep the wireless signal you get outside, in.

You haven't hurt the computers at all. They're still perfectly fine. Don't you have a network tech at school to do this stuff for you? It's quite simple to fix if you know what you're doing (tech support is necessary in every school, if you ask me). I could do it myself but I can't explain it to you, unfortunately. I'm lousy at teaching, just know how to do. I'm sure you'll be able to get it fixed quickly if you can find a tech savvy person somewhere near you.

Double click the icon in the task bar for the Local Network connection (the two little computers). This will bring up a window that says Local Area Connection Status.
There are two tabs at the top that say 'General' and 'Support'... click 'Support'.
Now click 'Repair'.
It should dump the DHCP lease and renew the ip address.
This will sometimes happen if you have a static ip address set instead of using DHCPif someone else on the network has recently used that ip with a different MAC address tied to it, it can confuse Windows.
Or if you try to log on to the network with a static ip... and someone else is using that same ip simultaneously.
The Repair button should work for you though. -

Sounds like maybe the hub/router itself needs a reboot or a swift kick then.

I vote for the swift kick.
