I have just over two months of experience. One month I did over two years ago with CRST at which point I quit and didn't drive for another two years, and now a little over a month and a half with this furniture delivery company I joined recently. I have my hazmat endorsement and a flawless driving record.

I come into the shop today, expecting a breather, and the news that I have Thanksgiving off (some employees that have been there for a while told me I should have it off) and get told basically I might work Thanksgiving and oh, I leave tomorrow on another run. I basically told my boss and my coworkers I am agitated by the news and I left feeling kind of bummed. So I am wondering, if you've had your CDL with hazmat for three years, and just about three months of experience do you have any good local options? I'm based in San Bernardino county. Anyone have any company recommendations in the area?

us xpress,jb hunt, companies like that. will be your best option. and it is kind of dumb to quit over the possiblty you might have to work thanksgiving. so you should probably just suck it up for now. and remember thanks giving isn't here yet. so you don't know what's going to happen until the day before.

I haven't quit. I learned my lesson about quitting one job before you have another....That lesson is, it's better to have money and be employed with a job you're not entirely happy with than to be unemployed and broke.

You can try Golden State Foods they are located in the city of industry...I worked for them for 33 years here in N.C. great place! Home most nights delivering fast food though , so it's a hands on job.

I would stay with the funiture job. it doesn't sound that bad. and it's the middle of the week. so if they have work for you. don't turn it down. just go with it. it sounds like you are new to the job. so give it a year. and then decide if you want to change.

I think some companies are better, some are worse, but you probably need a bit more experience before you can jump ship. The fact that you left after a month two years ago and are ready to leave now after two months may put you in a negative light with prospective employers, even if you could find someone to hire you (which I doubt).

After you get more time under your belt, you can go anywhere you want.

Stick with the job for 6 months at least. Check Careerbuilder website for local jobs and start making plans. Don't jump ship too early or you may end up worse off with some mega refrigerated carrier, low pay and never home.
