I worked for a company once that would never fix trucks. I got into a habit of stopping DOT. In Louisiana, State police can do an inspection as well so, if I needed an inspection & couldn't find a DOT, I would call the state police & they would have a trooper call me, he would find out where I am & tell me where to stop. He would drop by & inspect the truck.
Eventually, two DOT guys gave me their cell phone numbers. We became pretty good friends out there. All I wanted was a safe truck & they understood that. It also wasn't uncommon for the company to send me out for extra heavy loads to pick up. Those got expensive but they kept sending me out for'em & I kept calling DOT.
A supervisor said; "you sure do get stopped a lot" I said "well, they know I am a sure thing, so every time they see me, they stop me".![]()
As far as I know, it never affected me. At least I never got tickets & never had any problems with my La D/L.... never got letters or anything.
Can a drvier request an inspection at a scale house?

Not in the interest of the driver to request these anymore. -
I saw two Western Express flatbeds go into that first scale on 80 East in PA when it was CLOSED. Asked them over the radio why they would do that and their response was they were hoping to get inspected. I left it at that.
