Of course what they are not telling you is that a device designed to shut down the microprossesor of a car is capable of much more mayhem then it is worth. The current tech is ranged at 50 feet IE: all cars, trucks, laptops, cellphones and more... are suddenly dead. No recovery of memory, no rebooting just dead!
I can see the lawsuits now...

it sounds like off fast and furious too when the cops are chasing the cars on the highway and they shoot that claw thing onto the car and it just shuts the whole car down

Wait until they try it on someone with a mechanical engine. I can hear them now: "Duh, what won't it work?"

Won't it cause more accidents? As I'm driving my big rig down the interstate a trooper turns on his engine killing device...my truck goes dead...I say oh! ####, the car beside and in front of me are frantically trying to figure out how not to get ran over by my truck and the police cruiser can't get by any of us because we are now blocking the road with our "dead vehicles". Sounds like more accidents happening than just stopping traffic.
Chalk one more great idea up for the Homeland Security team.

Just wait until they turn it on and a spectator with a pacemaker drops to the ground. Ought to keep lawyers employed well into the next century.

While the idea to end dangerous high speed pursuits is a great idea, I think its badly flawed for all the reasons stated so far.

Burky I could not agree more. This will keep many lawyers employed till god knows when. I can hardly wait to see the face of a cop who tries it on a mechanical engine. Good luck and I hope these cops can id a mechanical vs a newer engine ran by a computer. If not, this is going to be funny waching a cop trying to shut down a big cam cummins. I can picture it already:

Trucker: You cant shut me down
Cop: Yes I can, you have a computer ran engine
    Trucker: No I do not
Cop: uh oh, how do we get this guy turned off?
