Are Snap-on tools really better ?

no.... i would say snap on all the way... not new snap on tools..but a used set from ebay or craigslist..search the words tools and box on CL...you can pick up somebodys complete snap on tool box and set of tools...usually retired mechanics...ive seen them for 3k to 40k+...my boy got a krl52 full of snap on tools for 2800 and he uses them daily to make a living..i have done this myself and its waaaaay cheaper than new snap on..let somebody else eat the depreciation from new to used ...they still have a lifetime guarantee...and because theyre snap on when you turn around to sell them you can get what you paid for them back...and then its like you rented a GREAT tool set for 10+ years for free... matco cant do that ...cornwell cant do that...especially if you have a anniversary or dale sr tool box that only gets more valuable over time...then you get paid for owning your tools wether you use them to make a living or not.. my 2 cents

No, Snap-On sells another more economical line called Blue-Point some of which is made overseas. The companys original name was Blue-Point but changed their name to Snap-On when they pioneered the seperate ratchet and socket that snaps on to one another.

 

Some of the other professional brands like Mac, Matco and Cornwell are not able to make all of their products and contract out the manufacturing work if the specific tool is not a popular seller.
