got one of those mass emails brokers send to carriers. Said something like this " I have a ton of loads from X to X please let us know if you can cover for X $ or less."
I cant imagine carriers tripping over themselves to say , yes Ill cover one of your many loads for less than what youre willing to pay.
Some brokers make me LOL

I like the wording. Lot more to trucking, than trucking. Only Fools do it. I am One.

I get a few emails from USeless Xpress every day with a list of their loads and what their target rate on them is. I have called on a few of those said loads and they always start way below the target rate it says in the email and of course I start above it when negotiating. Only once have they agreed to pay their targeted rate then they called a few minutes later and said it was already gone. Does not make any sense to me.

I always found those spam emails with available loads to be worthless. They're just mostly fishing for "backhaulers" with those. I should say that once in a while we had a handful of brokers who were sending some pretty good rates across on flatbed loads back when capacity was tighter. But the van rates were always lousy and overall those emails were useless imo. What's cool is when you somehow connect with a person at one of the mega's who has some good rates from time to time. They will not hesitate to lose money on loads now and then to keep a customer happy. Big money too. I never could connect with any of them by cold calling on loads for whatever reason. Over time several of our drivers developed relationships with different ones and they'd call our office seeking out our trucks. Sometimes they would even tell the office "open checkbook on this load folks we really need to get a truck on it". When they figure out where you live if they have some last minute stuff that pops up near you that they can't cover, all bets are off. If they are somewhat familiar with your lanes and routines they'll call and offer up freight. I never get some lowball offer from a call like that - they sit back and wait for me to figure the miles and routes then give them a price. That's respect. Never get any whining about "why so high" or "I can move it for half that all day long". Doesn't happen often as I would like but often enough for me to make a buck. That stuff doesn't work when you run all over the country and never figure out specific lanes, markets. You have to know your particular markets. You're in a good one you should do well.
BigKid2 Thanks this. -
I will never understand why loads are posted at X place and X rate and when you call they are 50 miles from where they are posted and below the posted rate. I was told a while back well its a back haul for you. Told her I don't understand what a back haul is so she started to explain. Polite as I could muster I explained that I live at 359 Peterbilt avenue didn't matter to me which way I went when I left there but I will go empty if I want to go home that bad. She kinda laughed and said well guess you will. Hour later called back with a better offer but I told I done split Colorado wasn't turning around now. I understand everybody needs to negotiate best rate for them. But why lie to get a few calls on the load, makes me gun shy about getting paid.
