Blow outs are really Loud usually. Although u won't feel it but if you dont have metallica full blast and never checking your mirrors u won't hear or see it.

I've seen a super single blow and shred. I went around the guy honking and waving he did not budge to look my way. Like I was going to flip him off or something. So I kept driving and never seen him again.

I wouldn't take it as an insult...that's just his way of wanting you to realize the seriousness of what happened. I had a stupid incident after a year in that made me realize I need to pay attention at all times to all things related to or pertaining to the safe operation of a CMV. Hopefully you will use this to become a better driver. My gut tells me you were on the phone when this happened.

Tho no-one needs to defend 'olhand one iota & he can do that well enuf himself, there's a big difference between insulting someone and a 37 year experienced driver telling you straight up like it is... with no "sugar coating". You can either choose to learn from it, or be defensive and "do your own thing".
I' don't know if you had the stereo blasting away at #10 volume, but it's incomprehensible to not have noticed this. Just being honest.

I've made my share of mistakes, but I do learn from them and suck up my pride, for the betterment of everything involved.

Like I said I admitted to it being something I didn't notice, I'm just trying to figure out why, I don't talk on my phone well driving, check all of my mirrors every 8 to 12 seconds, and my music is just barely loud enough to hear, the only time I was distracted tonight was looking for my receiver in the industrial park

Ask yourself "WHY?" 5 times...write the process down if you have to. Pretty surprising what you come up with.

dogchimp never claimed to be a perfect driver, or anywhere close to it. He is catching enuf "heat" for this already. No sense adding unwarranted fuel to the fire.

I've had my share of flats, blow outs, ect. 3 tires at one time out of four is my record about flopped that trailer at highway speed. Should of seen the traffic behind me. :biggrin_2555: You would be surprised how many times I've caught a ready to be a problem down the road by inspection. When your truck has 8 axles there's a lot of rubber to go flat. I check my rig about every 200 miles. Keep a close eye on the mirrors for ANY kind of issue. I can't tell you that a quick walk around has saved my bacon many times. Experience is your best defense from Gremlins and trucks are full of them.

He is right though... a proper pretrip and this wouldn't happen... and proper pretrip is not just walking around and nodding.. and no I am not saying you won't blow out a tire.. I too have done this.. I am not passing judgement just telling you a truth... a good flashlight is something you need... inspect those tires.. Yeah they aren't yours I understand that.. but it is yours now as they are probably going to get you with a preventable.. I mean that is the only other choice to them.. it was either flat when you started or you hit a curb with the way it looks you can't disprove it.. I hope they don't nail you with one but these big companies can do whatever they want...

I started out with Transport America on a Sears account.... and their was an NTB you couldn't get into without hitting a curb due to road construction.. You had to almost stop and make a right hand turn into the store.... Every time this one manager was on duty he would call in and file an accident report.. He got like 15 drivers before safety took a ride down there with a driver.... After researching it they realized it was the only way in.. and no damage was being done as it was all concrete and no grass.. It took them 6 months to figure this out.. and messed up a lot of drivers records with it.. I believe they fixed it..... I never got busted for it.. but I did it.. It was in Shenadoah Texas.... exit 77 off 45.... I am saying this to let you know a trucking company can do whatever they want...
