Well this morning started out fair. Woke up to high winds, So I rechecked my tarps and added some more bunjees to my tarps.
Get to Larmie and the office calls wanna take a ld. from Tacoma to Gillette, Wy. What does it pay I ask. They tell me ok. Will ld. it Monday or Tues for sure. Ok will let them know.
I wait for the paerwork , but nothing. Ok
Get to Rock Springs and it's snowing.. Clear the tunnell and it clears up.
Stop at Little America and send email, Did we get the ld. Yep was the reply..
Then about 15 mins later the phone rings. I'm giving yur ld. to another truck as his ld. fell through and he has been in the shop and waiting for a ld. I tell her hope he chokes on it..
I get a voice mail later. Never even listened to it.
I then sent an email said great give him the ld. I can find my own, seeing how it's not the first time I've had to find my own freight.. I get a reply, about not getting mad, still have time as I'm not mty yet, and he was.
Well I can't help it his ld. canceld. Why should I be punished.
It sure is making it easier for me to get the heat gun out and take the signs off my trk....
Where is everyone #2!!

Just got off phone with my driver manager. I honestly wish I worked with grown ups rather then children. They try to keep us fairly even money wise so the guys with more time in, like me, don't get all the big money freight. I am not rich, but there are times I turn stuff down for the simple reason I don't want to do it or because money isn't everything. So earlier this afternoon they offer me a load from Ohio to Oregon that pays the company driver somewhere in the 1.25 to 1.35 per mile range. Only problem is it delivers November 25th. I wanted to be home for Thanksgiving this year so I turned it down. They offered it to the next guy in line, who was just whining he isn't making a lot of money and he said he would rather quit then pull it
. So, now they call me back to ask me again if I would reconsider taking it. Bunch of ####'s. Whine you aren't making money then threaten to quit when they do offer you money.

Interesting...I have one driver that wants to leave every Sunday morning and work through the end of the day Friday, get a restart and repeat. Other company drivers complain about the fact that he keeps getting more miles. Yet they want to spend all summer waiting until Monday to leave. I don't fault guys for wanting to be home. Just realize you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can either make the most money or put home first, but not both.Cluck Cluck and dannythetrucker Thank this.

Why did he not want to pull it?
The fact it would keep him out over Thanksgiving or it's going to Or?
Me, I would be happy for the work seeing how you showed what the money would be for a comapny driver. Heck maybe I need to sell my trk. and drive for you guys...Cluck Cluck Thanks this. -
Those are my favorite.

I was pondering the same thing

After all that is going on where I'm at and then today. I really wonder why am I here.
Getting ready to send my wife back home and do some research on a small hotel and small restaraunt.
The thing for me is getting a work visa over there. Lot's of paperwork and money..
My younger brother in law has done an internship at a 5 star hotel last year in Hua Hin. My wife is a great cook. Me i used to manage a small restaruant many years ago. So who knows.
Plus considering offers here in trucking, still driving though -
I am not sure why he threatened to quit, that was all the DM told me. It seems they have had a rash of guys who want to "Leave on Monday, be home Friday and make a lot of money". We just don't haul that kind of freight. I guess if it comes down to it I will take the load, give up Thanksgiving to be home for Christmas and those guys can continue to cry they aren't making money.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Then I'll refrain from showing you what some of our loads pay a company driver.

I hauled one broker ld. for you guys last year. Was good money on it.. Short trip, but good money..
catalinaflyer Thanks this.
