In less than a week you have discovered the most difficult part of this job . . . waiting and doing nothing. You thought it would be driving the mountains, maybe NYC or blind backing down an ally, maybe the ice and wind on I80, Nope, it's sitting in your 7x8 box not knowing what the heck is going on. Welcome to reefer mind game.

Well, nice to be missed. Did the Twizzler load to Ogden, then a load out of there to Phoenix, US 89 south out of UT is a nice drive, saw some weird white stuff on the side of some of the roads. Dropped my load in Phoenix, went to the truck stop and waited for a load. Had home time set for Friday in Dallas, then scheduled for trainer class on Sunday. Planned to run up to see some friends in OKC. Best laid plans and all that.
So no load, send some messages, make some calls, sit some more. Then I figure, probably not going anywhere until the next day. Then I get a call. Cool must be a load, right? Nope, it's Debbie, she has a team that needs my MT trailer. OK, sure, no problem. (name that movie). Next day I get sent to Target to pick up an MT so they can send me a load. Funny, same trailer number I took out of there yesterday, guess what, it's not there, and they don't have any mt's. So a few hours later they finally send me to Fedex where they say there are three, one of which is the same trailer I gave to the team? So I get over there and wow, there it sits, mt, so why did the team need it???? Any way, I grab a different(newer) one and head to my pickup in Yuma.
Load doesn't pick up untli the next day between 8-12. Jill takes me to the MCAS and tells me I have arrived. Needless to say, I am not a military transport, so I quickly figure out that I'm in the wrong place. The Android smart phone quickly finds the correct directions and I arrive shortly after 8. "You need an mt weight". That would have been nice to know ahead of time. You also go back and weigh after your loaded so they know how much lettuce to charge for the lettuce. So I go around the corner and get a $5 gross. Head back and she tells me the product is not ready yet and she will call me. We finally get out of there shortly before 5 pm.
Load is going to Taylor Farms drop yard in Dallas. Dropped it this evening and made to the yard and through the safety lane by 5:30. Went in and fed a 2 lb bag of Twizzlers to the worthless night and weekend dispatch crew.flue Thanks this. -
Remember, if you don't know what to do and you're sitting around wondering...you can never go wrong sending pizza to the night crew!
Dryver, flue and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
