Trucking compaines and treatment.

i kinda think this blog will get a lot of attention but i don't beleive any congressman really would care about the trucking people they are older types and don't drive much themselves and when they do they get nervous about big trucks on the same road w\them some do some don't it is the owners and people put in to do the jobs that are ruining it when you hire a guy to make a company more money which is the american thing he sits and looks at #'s to see where to save $$ at then comes up with idiling rules and speed rules to save pennies while us drivers are losing dollars out there saving them pennies who is out for the little guy----the litle guy who wins?

 

Where's Jimmy Hoffa when you need him? Now that guy could organize us. Hehehe. The problem is we give our time for free to these companies and they expect it. We get paid for the miles we drive and thats pretty much it. Driving a truck today in a non union atmosphere sucks. So, suck it up and and do something else for your company that you won't get paid for!

 

Isn't that the truth! The amount of time that company drivers give up is a disgrase to their companies. I don't make the best money but I challenge any OTR company driver to compare wages and benefits. I was listening to Sirius today while unloading and heard a driver that was trying to get paid for delay time from their company. I think it was around 8 hours but I don't really remember. Do you really need to fight to be paid properly? I know the majority are paid by the mile but they also need to be compensated for "on duty, not driving" time. Seems to me to be a huge waste of time. If the company is not willing to pay you for your time, It's time to move on.

I dunno, the more government regulation there is, the less production there is, the less money we are likely to be able to make, etc. Government is way too big already, I don't think I want to be the one to invite them to make further encroachments on our industry!
