not sure what you mean can't get home?
the only time I couldn't get home was in training
as soon as I got my own truck they sent me home for a couple days
now if he leased right as a newbie
so he can't afford time off
dad needed to kick his butt

He has to submit a hometime request to be able to be routed home. Even if he was just a company driver, a few phone calls and an explanation should have resolved the matter and gotten him home sooner. TransAm might employ a bunch of turds but theyre not heartless. And if he leases, he could just give them the middle finger, demand a deadhead order, and bite the cost of fuel. Been there, done that.
kirk Thanks this. -
As a company driver, it was very rare for Husband to not receive his requested home time, and be home when he was supposed to be. He was held out an extra week in November one year and last year at Christmas it was a bit of a mess getting home time approved but it was eventually straightened out.
cman60, when your son puts in his requests for home time on certain days is he getting a message back saying the request was denied? Does he immediately put in a request for a new date ....say if he originally requested to be home on the 21 and it is denied, does he then request the 22, and then the 23? Since they only allow a certain percentage of the fleet off at any given time November and December fill up fast ....also the last week of May. If he has tried putting in 3 consecutive days and been denied then he needs to call his DM and ask what is the first date that they have available. ...and have his DM immediately put him in for those days. If he was unfamiliar with the system of requesting home time he needs to explain to his DM and see if they can't get him home to see his new baby ....honeybadger is absolutely correct, they are stinkers but not heartless. My husband was very fortunate in that his trainer explained the process to him and how to get the most out of home time. We always requested that our time off begin at 8pm for instance on the 21, then my husband would be home for the 22 and 23, then go back on duty at 7am on the 24. That is the way his trainer recommended that he put in for home time and it always worked for us ....the 8pm and 7am thing.
There are many things that TransAm just lets you learn on your own and the hard way. Also, there is a difference in the way things are handled between company drivers and lease drivers ....so if you are a company driver and your trainer was a lease driver, or the other way around, there are things your trainer will not know to tell you.
I hope we have been some help to you and your son. Please have him get on this thread and read through it... and also the blog that you see at the bottom of my post. There is a lot of good information that would be of help to him. -
As written in 99.9% L/P contracts, there is a section which you initialed, a Contract Addendum section which gives them the power to add or take away things from the contract and you either go along with the changes or resign.
