The 14'2" wide dump bed I'm taking from Laredo to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This load counts towards levels 2 and 3 upgrade. I need 3 more 10'1"+ wide loads to make Level 2 after this load.

Was hoping to make it to West Memphis today but second pilot car won't be in Arkansas until tomorrow.

How long did it take for you to get to this level?

It takes about 3 months to get to Level 1, then the levels after that are based on how many wide loads you pull for each criteria. For instance, to get to Level 2, you need 8 wide loads of 10'1" or greater. I can't recall the other requirements for Levels 3-5. For this load, since it's a Level 2 upgrade load, I was given a one time upgrade to pull it and that's why it counts for 2 levels of advancement.

Made it to the Scranton, PA Petro. Can't really go any further because Connecticut requires an advance notice of a week for police escorts, plus one of my escorts had another load for Friday and neither of them were NY certified. So I'm stuck here until Monday. I'll need two more escorts and have to meet the Connecticut state police at 9:30am promptly to be escorted through their state.

Someone dropped the ball on the Connecticut permit. I should be delivering this load Friday, but instead I won't get to until Thanksgiving day. Which means less miles on this check just like my last check. I'm not happy about that. I'd hope I get another long load out of Canada.

Anyway, I'm about 4 hours ahead of the guy I left with at the same time on Saturday from Laredo. He decided to stop early in Arkansas thinking he wouldn't get a spot in N. Little Rock. I reserved a spot wanting to be passed Little Rock entirely. He missed curfew in Nashville and in Virginia the past 2 days. So, my idea of going 45 minutes further on day two saved me an extra day of driving.

I'm anticipating this winter being abnormally slow. Just got a weird feeling about it.

Always something when you need to take an oversize that far it seems, especially one that size. Lonestar seems to totally leave it up to you to make sure you have escorts and what days you'll be in what state I've found. If you don't have one of those oversize books that breaks down each states requirements then I highly suggest you get one, the one with the yellow cover also has the Canadian provinces. As far as slow, I'm thinking you're right.

I have the newest book available for pilot cars and oversize requirements. I studied that book like an exam. Nothing in it said anything about needing police escort in Connecticut.

sorry, didn't mean to imply that specific thing would be in there. It also doesn't say anything about not to use beacon lights in Ontario unless you have an escort.

Oh I know man. I just find it humorous that they think we're going to know every rule and restriction. I've only been at this a year. There's people in that office that know the ends and outs of these laws and yet no one is given a heads up. So instead of getting another 800+ miles on my next check, I'm instead getting $300 of layover pay. I'm no mathematician but that's not equaling up. I'd just like two checks in a row to be decent this winter. Ever since that Alaskan trip it's seemed to be hit and miss.
