Heartofatrucker ????? Trucker 18 years ????? Dont think so... first post ever?????
I call B/S here...
Misinformation???? You just posted corporate spin...plain and simple..
Heartland is in damage control mode... should we see an exodus of drivers and support staff greater than the ability to replentish it would affect stock prices.
As far as Steve and Scott running the day to day operations..i dont think so.. i doubt heartland execs give a flip what these boys think.. truth is they dont have any desire to be in the trucking industry..
Had they wanted to run a trucking company they had the best one in the palms of their hands. No need to sell...
Larry deserves to retire???? Really????
Its not like he was broke and needed the money..truth is he knew his sons wanted out..as soon as they cash out the rest of their stock then adios muchachos...
Heartland adopting gordon specs on equipment.. Larry Gordons words : not misinformation : "heartland has one specification for trucks .. cheap" ..
Seniority... Larry Gordon said Heartlands vacation pays is not as good as Gordons...my vacation pay has always been over $1300 PER WEEK.. i get 3 weeks per year.. you think heartland is going to pay me over $4,000 a year in vacation pay....
This is one lamb that will not be led to slaughter quietly just so heartland can maintain its freakin profit margins..![]()

You're such a corporate or social media employee, you're bleeding the white and the red. Let me tell you why this is such a big deal. GTI wasn't just another trucking company to many. It was home, family, etc. I've been driving 12 years. Most of that time was spent wanting to come to GTI. But they did not hire in my area. I get here, 7 months later the company is not GTI but Heartland Express, a company I have refused employment from for various reasons. GTI respected and treated their drivers well, Heartland does not. I run 3000+ most weeks, I know guys over at Heartland that sit and sit and sit. Especially in the northeast region. No APU units, and for the last few years Heartland knows that its illegal to idle in many states. You put your BS on the driver. It's all about being cheap. It's all about profit. And hey, it should be. But a plaque oh the wall for your million mile drivers does not make you a good company. The APU units. The world class planners. The level of detail that was put in ordering these trucks. The terminals which are clean and have amenities for the most important people at a trucking company- the drivers. It almost seemed as if Larry Gordon thought of us as his equals, because he was a driver. He knew what was important. You're a Heartland shill and I am not impressed. I may have only been here a short time, but I know what set GTI apart from the rest. Heartland is the rest.

Joseph, you can insult me and others if you choose. But I believe many people would like to know this information. Lot of pride in both companies. Both have a lot of success and a lot to be proud of.
-
Heartland should be ashamed of how it has continued to treat its drivers...
You cant hide from your reputation... experienced drivers know who you are....aimhigh Thanks this. -
Just to throw in a little balance, this doesn't appear to be your typical acquisition. GTI was not down and out or even on the ropes. And the Gordons are still prominently involved and can influence what transpires going forward. Bailing immediately doesn't appear to be prudent in this case, particularly for those with some time in with GTI. There doesn't appear to be a Heartland Driver Thread blowing up over this move like the GTI threads. But I'd have to experience some deterioration before I jumped ship If I were in your position. One positive that Might occur is the possibility that the Average Load Length could increase a bit being that this is now a bonafide 48 state carrier. Only time will tell. Good luck to all the drivers at Heartland/GTI.
-
I'm not insulting you. Just stating your job title. It's your job. I get it. We can only hope that Heartland keeps the best of GTI. I don't see it happening though.CougFan Thanks this.
-
I respect your opinion. Thanks. I will say though its not my job. But I have spent a lot of time recently in Pacific with Larry Gordon, Steve, Scott, and the driver managers and many drivers. I share my information with honesty and integrity.

Average load length isn't going to increase. What was 7.9% of Gordon drops to less than half that in HTLD/GTI and possibly go to HTLD teams, not solo long haul like 120-driver Mid-West US Fleet. Eventually.
We now know that median (half above, half below) at Gordon was somewhere 300-350 miles. 'Average' is the total of a list (like load length) divided by number of items in a list. Gordon's 400-mile 'average' much higher than median load length (half above, half below).
Gordon had merely 7.9% loads over 1000 miles. Sharply skews the 'average' upwards. 26.1% less than 100 miles (!!), or one in four loads under 100 miles, and 39.5% 100 miles-399, a whopping 66.1% of loads under 400 miles. Median (half above, half below) probably drops in somewhere below 350 miles.
Gordon was no long haul carrier. Graphic below from conference call slide presentation: http://www.heartlandexpress.com/uploadedFiles/Investor/Investor Slides 11.11.13.pdf

Heartofatrucker might be better off posting corporate view at main merger thread: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...d-express-inc-acquires-gordon-trucking-4.html
Gerdin family has very interesting and sometimes leading-edge history in trucking. Just posted links and more info including speculation on Wal-Mart reaction: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...culture-one-drivers-experience-gordon-12.html

Had the heartland drivers received a message last monday informing them that heartland had just been purchased by gordon there would have been 2900 heartland drivers dancing in the parking lots all across america. Because they would have been looking at going to work for the best otr company out there. Better equipment..they would have been begging for a smurf truck..
But instead.. i get in my truck after getting a shower and lunch..my phone has a dozen missed calls..voice messages and texts from other drivers at gti.. 3 other gti drivers running across the parking lot to my truck..one screaming my name saying... wtf just happened.. have you read your qualcomm yet? I was reading the message as he was asking the question.. the only other time i felt this way was when i caught my first wife with another man...
I was truly heart broken.. i felt betrayed...
Heartland is a major step down...any influence gti may have on heartland will be an improvement..
Any influence heartland has on gordon will be negative as there is nothing good about heartland from a drivers perspective.. -
So .. heartofatrucker ... joseph and myself have been huge supporters of gordon on this site in the past.
We would quickly respond to anything someone would post that would trash this company.
We have weathered a lot of criticism from other drivers for doing so but we were honest in everything we said.
We always posted from our own personal experiences.
Now that we have come out so strongly against heartland I can only wonder if heartland is going to take some action against us for stating our dissatisfaction with the prospect of working for heartland.
I was approached by several staffers at indy this week trying to convince me this was going to turn out well.
They are all very aware of my activity here and the fact that I have become a credible influence for gordon.
You ask for time.. give you a chance... I fear I may only be giving you an opportunity to cause harm.
Other heartland drivers have posted on this site how potential employers have been given negative info by heartland resulting in their inability to gain employment all the while still driving for heartland.
Will this be our fate?
I do not speak for joseph... truth is.. we have never met face to face..
I speak for myself... you know who I am by now... man up .. speak to me face to face.. I am a great poker player and can spot a liar when I look into his eyes...
If I believe you.. I will say so..
I am not saying I think I am better than anyone else and should be given special attention. But you did enter "this" arena and make accusations of people spreading misinformation.
