I have nothing except the big three (Income tax, SSN, and Medicare) taken from my checks and I gotta gross 1,240.00 to Bring Home 1,000.00. He claims he's a Family man so he's probably gonna be having Health Insurance deductions as well. Possibly other deductions also. So how much gross is this boy gonna have to make to Bring Home 1,000.00? This is NOT a place to gross 70k to Bring Home 52k with the luxury of sleeping in your own bed.

If only some are making it that means they are hustling and working their butts off big time. And the advertisements? They are usually at least a little bit inflated so it's probably more like 900 and something, which ends up being more like 600 and change, maybe 700 take home pay, very far from $1000.

I know it's hard to comprehend for somebody who comes from a different market, but I personally know some of those drivers that work local for $12 an hour. I wouldn't work an office job for that. As much as I love being close to family I'd rather relocate. Regional positions are a lot easier to find with a decent salary though, maybe you want to look into those. The other thing that pays good is foodservice (ugh!) You're gonna earn every penny. My hubby tried it recently and it took him all of 2 weeks to decide it wasn't for him. Back to the road! He's doing regional and home every weekend.
Sarcasm is a good bubble-bursting tool, and you were due for a reality check. We mean well. :biggrin_25519:

Well surprise, i was askin on behalf of my husband in nevada here making 23$ an hour with company, they cutback to 40 hrs no o.t. But yes almost 150$ plus worth of deductions, He will transfer to orlando with current company, not just economic but better environment for kids, everyone sounds so depressed, maybe the grass isnt always greener on the other side but, I specifically wanted to hear from drivers for these companies i mentioned, not a general horoscope! My question was about a specific company or companies! Not floridas stock market. I get it no ones getting paid nowaway days! Thats why we moved out of california, he applied to 2 truckin jobs and he got beat out because they said " he didnt speak spanish" (In the Usa) so thats From experience! Not a general forecast

I have a friend who drives for RaceTrack and yes you can clear $1000 per week. They get paid per load,.. not wholly per hour. But as with other 'sectors' of this profession like OTR for example,.. the only way to make the money you want to earn is to drive more then you are 'legally' allowed. Easy to do as you are local and can easily mislead DOT about your local radius even when it exceeds 100 mi which she often does. Pick up in Tampa, deliver to Ocala, back to Tampa to deliver to Sarasota, back to Tampa and then out to Orlando. 14 - 15 hour days, 6 days a week. $1000 a week,.. no problem. She showed me her check and wanted me to come drive for them.

Personally I'd rather be OTR, run at my own pace, home every 3 - 4 weeks and at home for 5 - 7 days straight, rather than home long enough to eat, poop and sleep just to go out all day and do it again. No thanks. No I am not home every night. I miss my family like crazy while out. But I earn more and have better quality time at home when I am home. To each their own.

The first of this year we moved our residence to Nevada from Tennessee. Our new home is in Seven Hills, Henderson. The Redfin website is good for finding good schools matched to neighborhoods and you can use it in Orlando also. We used Redfin to find the top rated schools, then looked for homes that were matched to the schools we wanted. Each home/condo/apartment rental or purchase on Redfin will show the school for that particular residence. Spent many hours in the search; sometimes we thought we found the perfect home, but then the school was rated very low, so we kept looking.

I apologize it was a simple question about a specific company! Where i come from drivers start at 18$ an hour, so sorry if i offended everyone with a simple question that turned into a economy lesson?! I wish people would not just read but actually comprehend, thats not a sarcastic answer!

In Florida they say we have to pay for the weather. I agree with most of what the other guys are saying. It is difficult to earn top wage here as in other parts of the country. I was earning $27.33 plus $4.66hr went into an intrest bearing retirement account, this was back in 1996 and why I quit trucking back then. I came to Fla after my divorce in 99, only to discover the union was practically non existent, (Right to work state), and top wage was $11hr. Even in 2009 I was at topped out at $21hr. I hadent had a raise in 4 yrs and they were constantly looking for reasons to fire me. Company finally folded and I ended up out of work anyway.
