Sounds like the week I had the week before this one. And I don't know why they won't let you off. Freight sucks Christmas week anyway. On the bright side, you should be able to run your recaps through the next week without a 34 to help make up for it.
Oh, and I don't mind 800 mile loads, but they better come 2 every 3 days, not every 4 days. Let the lazy dudes do that.

in orientation he said each load makes 35$ but i didnt beleive him. just makes no sense because theres so many company drivers. and they pay low. so what about other companies? so why do they have dedicated accounts for company drivers? kraft local, farmland, midwest regional, chicago local intermodal, seems off to me. and when i trained rodger use to send each week that another l/o team or solo just had a roll over for speeding in snow. or accident they had. so company arent the problem here only. but you kinda got me worried. so should i look into another place? if company is no profit i dont wanna lose my job. and ya your right there sure is a super trucker each week. thanks. i was thinking of local tanker but i need my 1 yr to come in january.

That's where I am fortunate. My DM is always easy to get ahold of and she almost acts like she's afraid I'll leave for some reason. As long as she keeps doing a good job, I'm staying put.

at least you have a cdl. you will be the most relaxed guy in the class. you wont have to worry about dmv tests like the others. youll just chill and well kinda just practice. no studying when your done with the day. so in a way its a plus. but because you didnt go solo i think thats why. cuz i heard people do like 2 weeks with a trainer and go out on their own. but 1 month training isnt much experience. 1 yr woulda looked better. so ya just take it like a mini break just chilling and relaxing. everyone else in your class will be nervous lol except you

I think they may play a little fast and loose withthose numbers over all. Each truck is (self) insured. The money paid into the pool has to more than equal the liabilities or they can't remain self insured. So, they may be double dipping those figures when it comes to accidents, and the insurance side may actually also turn a profit. The $35 dolar figure is probably correct but as an average including the cost of accidents.

I don't know about company trucks, but oo tractors are not self insured. That means they don't have (as much) liability with their oo tractors wrecking.

The same thing applies if inured by an outside company except for the insurance profits. The only liability the company has outside premiums is the deductable, but when you talk to them they act like they have to pay the whole thing. I understand why they might do it, in order to impress the need for saftey. But, l've always found a wholly honest approach in anything to be the better policy.Arkansas Frost Thanks this.

Well my dm finally got back to me. He said this is the best they have in the area. More importantly he said my last 99 is a drop, which cuts a day off this set of loads.
As as far as home time, I know I could push my weight around and get my full home time, because it's the law. Even so, they could just as easily take me off the Kraft fleet. Of course if things stay slow than I'll just take the extra time at home and they can do whatever they want. I like running Kraft. I know the locations, and they USUALLY keep me running pretty good. I just had a conversation with my dm a couple months (or a month, I don't know because time is all running together) ago about miles and he kept me slammed all the time since until last week. I'm assuming things will turn around after this, because I has somewhat short in my qc messages when he finally got back to me. If he didn't get the hint, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.Arkansas Frost and Lady K Thank this. -
The more you cost the insurance company the more they cost you. Insurance isn't a charity; it's a business. If you think central has insurance that costs less than the accidents cost you are delusional. The real difference between l/o and company trucks is that a company driver might not push, and therefore not cover fixed+variable expenses whereas l/o trucks push or the driver takes the hit, not the company. On top of that you can get into other savings (no payroll tax, no bennies, etc) but I'll save you the lecture.

$30/load huh? There are so many ways a company can come up with that figure. It's a shell game. I believe the number is actually a little higher. But, think about it...at just $30/load, you're looking at $15-20M/yr net profit.
