Gti had an on again off again policy when it came to going around tolls. Especially the I80 turnpike in Indiana and Ohio. .

If the cpm are raised to heartland levels I dont care.. I am currently at .40 .. from what I have been told I would be at .44 with heartland payscale..

That is a 10% increase .. which would offset shortmile pay..

    Might, depending load/unload, scaling time.

Unless a driver has a great Plan B lined up, makes sense to wait-and-see.

    I agree there.

If (like me) you made just under $24/hr before GTI, as much and more (like me) on a two- three-day run now as a full, 7-day week @ GTI, there is a certain temptation to find a few similarly situated drivers and seek out a class-action atty based upon the Gordon long haul reputation (as touted at this thread, for example). Doubt it's worth the trouble. Dunno.

Your miles shouldn't change for a while anyway. You'll know more first hand starting tomorrow, tow.

/That's a year ago last August you quit Gordon, isn't it, sc00ter? I always scaled, then fueled unless it wasn't close--rarely needed to scale unless close. A little over 7 pounds per gallon for diesel.

True dat, heartofatrucker! However, gti's system also does not take into account those instances where a fuel solution at the end of Trip A may cause an overweight condition on Trip B. Case in point, Gen Mills at Great Falls MT is one place I load first, then scale, then fuel. Last trip had an old Buske wood floor trailer with what shipper had listed as 44880lbs. Should've been cake but when I scaled, 80240lbs at just over 1/2 on fuel. Scaled again at Billings, which was my assigned fuel stop, at 80040lbs. I ended up getting fuel at Rapid City, Sioux Falls, and St Joseph, MO (had to get fuel after MO scale at IA/MO line). I was at annual meeting at Pacific in 2009 when a driver who asked that very question. Larry Gordon, in so many words, said he would hope a driver would contact DM before picking up a load like that, especially if they weren't sure what the weight would be. Then Mr. Gordon called into question if he really wanted a driver working for him that didn't challenge a fuel solution like that. That, btw, is when I decided that that was the kind of guy I wanted to drive for.

On a side note, when I quit last August and went to the place "where there are no shortcuts"...to the poor farm...I could imagine Mr. Gordon conducting my exit interview... his response to my concern? It would be something like this... "Grow up and grow a pair!". Sometimes I learn things the hard way...but eventually I learn.

I'm heading of HTLD drivers making contact with GTI drivers and I hope much more of that continues. After having an almost 2 hour phone conversation with a friend that's been with HTLD over 5 years, I'm not so apprehensive. To be sure, things will change for both companies' drivers. But in the back of mind, I'm hearing these words in a familiar voice, "Get over it...and grow a pair!"

Hey there, victor, here are my trips for October. I am OTR, long-haul, nation wide. Hoping HTLD has a true US fleet (I love the NW this time of year!)

    518, 424, 424, 611, 732, 1479, 243, 157, 238, 291, 498, 1524, 954, 286, 1374, 1101, 524, 799, 1395. (might also add that truck wasn't set up right when I picked it up in Pacific on the 1st...only would do 60mph til I got into shop in early Nov)

Nov so far; 744, 1189, 841, 1074, 1706, 191 (load came out of Yakima WA and I relayed from KC drop lot with 2 of 3 stops to deliver), and heading to my next load for 806. Not too shabby, eh? ( yeah, I run Canada, too).

Miles are miles. I prefer US and west. What I don't get in traffic, I do in weather. Just sayin'.

Yes, victor, a year ago august. My deal on fuel plan was thru the deadhead and fuel solution wanting to take on before loading.

After checking out the heartland website i like a couple of their regional setups they have. Especially the memphis one since i live in tennessee.

If the miles were decent and hometime was more frequent i might look into something like that.

If i were to leave here then that is what i was going to look into anyway...

Vic, in one of our larger OTR divisions here is how the W2's break down, for drivers that were with the company the entire year. You should have some statistical fun with this. Btw, I am not an 'official'. :) Also keep in mind that although we have some of the same challenges with home time as many do in a U.S. or system fleet, for the most part the system guys get home once every 10 to 14 days and the regional guys get home mostly weekly but can be out an extra week about once a month. That is 'for the most part', it doesn't mean it always works out perfectly every week that way. This doesn't mean that the same would apply to GTI drivers, as they have their own regions, freight lanes, etc. and will continue to work for the same GTI driver managers that they always have. Just trying to be helpful in providing some information about Heartland drivers.
