We are a small stepdeck/ flatbed operation. We haul mainly for a half dozen direct customers around the northeast. We also haul some brokered loads to get back home. We are doing a load for a customer next week and I found a load that a broker has listed, load about 60 miles away from where we unload for our customer and we deliver about 30 miles from home. It is 14'6" wide and 20k on the weight. Will be a 420 mile run according to how the permit will route us. No tolls. Permit cost is $65. Only one car required. Just curious what you would charge for something like this? This will be the first time we hauled an O/D broker load, not sure where they will be on $. Thanks
First brokered O/D load...what to charge?

Like the Old Man said Buy Low Sell High!
Go High and come down, Rather then going low and it costing you! going low won't be fun for very long. Good Luck!

1st rule dont tell broker this load is bringing you near home.
BAYOU and Cluck Cluck Thank this. -
Yes, I know that, never let them see your hand. I was just curious on where some of you independents would be on a load like this, thats all. Thanks

Been approx a year since I've done one of those loads but I could get $7.50/mile for a step without any trouble....going into ON or QC. Maybe more because of Thanksgiving and month end.
Originating in MD or DE? -

2.30 to 2.75 mabee play with fuel charge till everyones happy.

I was thinking $4.50/ mile for the truck plus $1.25/mile for the car. Plus the cost of the permit. Would put you somewhere in the ballpark of $2500.

$2.75 a mile for 14' wide with one escort car?
-
4.50 a mile is low even after escort and permit. it is light but i think your shorting your self at 4.50.
