I thought this was algae but my mechanic says its the inside of my fuel line. All he seen was this pic. Wish I still had the filter with me.
What is this in my fuel filter?

Looks like algae, but it looks kinda like a paper towel in one spot too. The filter looks like its been on there a long time, was the truck sitting for a while?
BillDorsey Thanks this. -
Yes it does look like some sort of paper. Was there any water in there?
Dorsey Thanks this. -
Most likely algae. Treat it ASAP, as it could destroy your fuel lines.
Dorsey Thanks this. -
I think algae as well, but see the parer towel looking spot. I had some similar stuff in my 359 it had set for 2 years. Bought a product called KILLEM at a AR fuel injection. Changed filter 1 time after treatment is how fast it worked.
Dorsey Thanks this. -
wore out, Taildragon and Dorsey Thank this.

The truck sat from around April of this year til about a month ago. The filters were changed on my way home to FL from Texas.

IDK. I meant to take the filter with me but the roadside repair guy took them. (I screwed up and didnt have any filters with me) -
A buddy of mine recommended that Killem stuff. He said it didnt get rid of the algae until winter but kept it at bay through the summer months until winter hit -
If it's slimy to the touch then algae. If it's sticky sorta like tar than asphaltene. By the look of that filter I would just guess algae.
