Man has it been a long week. Well last Thursday Jeremiah took his driving test and failed. The instructor said he was downshifting while crossing a railroad track and that is an automatic failure. Jeremiah said that he had finsihed shifting right before he hit the track but he wasn't going to argue.

On Friday he takes the test again and failed again. He said that his instructor told him to turn left but all Jeremiah heard was wah wah wuh wah....kinda like the teacher on Charlie Brown. He just blanked out and didn't turn and went straight. His instructor wanted to pass him but said if there was an auditor behind him and he passed Jeremiah that he (the instructor) could get in trouble.

Well, I already had my plane ticket to fly to Omaha on Saturday to get the car back from him. So he droved from Hastings to Omaha to get me (a 2.5 hour drive) and we go back to Hastings. On Monday he went to take the test again and this time he passed!!! Yipee!

Originally he was supposed to start orientation on Monday at Werner with the rest of the class. We got word from Werner that if we hurry and get to Omaha that they will still get him in the orientation class for Monday. So we hurried up and packed what we had left to pack and headed out.

We got to Werner around 1pm and he went to orientation while I hit the mall! :yes2557: Werner put us up at a motel but I couldn't get registered until Jeremiah came by to fill out some paperwork and give them his employee id #. At 6pm Jeremiah called me and said that he was sorry but he was having to take some CBT tests and that he might not be out of there for a while. I was waiting at that point in the motel lobby. I was able to go get him and have him sign the paperwork so that I could go to the room and then I took him back so he could go finish the CBT tests. He didn't get out of there until aroun 7:45pm.

On Tuesday he had orientation again at 8am and was there until around 6p. Said it was just the normal stuff and they also learned the qualcomm. When he got in for the night we went out to eat at a wonderful restaurant called Charlies on the Lake. My sister had gone to law school in Omaha so I knew about several good places to eat. In fact on Saturday night we went to the Old Market in Omaha and walked around the shops and ate Calzones at Old Chicago. If you ever go to Omaha you have to go downtown to the Old Market, it is alot of fun and tons of good food!

So, that brings us to Wednesday. Jeremiah's brother got into Omaha around 1:30p. I helped Jeremiah load up his stuff on the truck and then I headed out to Texas. I got home last night at 11:30pm. I am so lucky that I got to leave yesterday because today the weather is horrible here. We have gotten 8 inches of snow today at our house. The roads are icy and everything has closed early.

Jeremiah called last night to say that they left right after I did. His brother was out of hours and under a load going to Mineappolis (spelling?) so they headed right out. They ended up getting pulled over by DOT at some point and got put out of service for a headlight. Well they got that fixed and got to the drop off in time for their 11pm appointment but the place was closed. They were way early and already nobody was there, he said who knows why they had an appointment scheduled for that time since they were closed then. So they stayed the night there and got unloaded this morning. They headed to the truckstop and have been there waiting on a load. He is supposed to call me later when they find out where they are headed to next. Oh, and last night he said he was already getting to drive on ice but that he was taking it easy and going very well.

    So far so good.

    Sassy,

Thank you so much for the update. I'm glad to hear he's passed and is on the road. I'm glad to hear he did good on the ice. We've had a really bad storm up here the other day in Indiana. We had it going from rain to snow to sleet to I swear a little hail, back and forth through all of it, here where I live, till we finally ended up with four or five inches of snow in like a three hour stretch. I can just imagine what it was like up in Minnesota. Probably ten times worse. Give him best wishes from all of us here. We're looking forward to hearing how he's doing.

Jeremiah called tonight and said that they are now on their way to Washington, somewhere right up by the Canadian border.

I also heard from one of the girls who was in class with us. She is got her trainer yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to get a female trainer. She had said she had just signed something agreeing to a coed trainer when she found out she had just been assigned a female. She said that her trainer is awesome and is on a dedicated Dollar General account and all is going well. I am so excited for her. She is a really wonderful person and I wish her the best. She is going to be team driving with her husband. He was also in our class and he went out with his trainer yesterday as well.

So far out of the class of I think 14, I think there are just 3 waiting on a trainer and they could already be out with their trainers by now. I just haven't heard about them yet. Nobody had to wait very long so it seems.

    Take it care!

We are both glad to hear everything is going well and the school is behind you both. The training is a pain but will be over soon enough and Jerimiah will be on his way home with his new truck. Good Luck during training and keep us posted.

I am about to head to bed but wanted to give everyone a quick update. So far all is good. Jeremiah and his brother started out going to Minnesota. They delivered that load and then headed to Washington. They delivered a load and then got a short run to Seattle. After that they were headed to p/u a load going to Portland but at the last minute things changed and they got a load going to Arkansas. They delivered that load and then headed to Alabama. They were dropping that off tonight and then are supposed to be going to Laredo, TX.

My BIL had already put in vacation time for the 14th, so they will be taking 6 days off starting around then. I am going to go meet them in New Orleans, where my BIL lives. Werner is putting hubby and me up in a motel for the 6 days. He will still get his regular pay but now he won't get the $500 bonus for going through training straight thru. But oh well! We have alot planned to do while in New Orleans. I have never been and we plan on going on some tours (like the haunting tour, a swamp tour, and a plantation tour) and then I also want to go out on the night cruise on the riverboat.

Well take care everyone and goodnight!
