How does IdleAire work? Cost? Is it worth it?

depends on what its worth to you.

I personally hate trying to sleep in an idle truck. If you have idle air you can hook up and pay $10 for the gold membership (worth it) and pay $1.86 an hour for heat/air, electric and quiet.

It has option for upgrades like movies, movie channels, internet, and phone.

I like it. I use it whenever i have the chance. Less motor wear, burning diesel that cost an arm and a leg.

And its now a tax write off.

T2 its always been a tax write off. Any business expense is a write off. Ask your tax preparer.

There are several problems with IA. If it gets really cold they won't keep you warm. If it gets really hot it won't keep you cool. And they don't have them but at a few places.

An APU is better because it goes with you no matter where you are and need it. At a rest area, at a shippers when you get tied up for way too long, at a dirt lot truck stop, at the Wal Mart parking lot, etc etc etc.

What burns me is coming into a truck stop (Usually a TA) and the whole place is full up to the gills but there is a few idle air spots left.

I pull into ione of those and no thanx i am not "Hooking up" the the attendants B%^$tch up a storm

Guess what I dont move and tell them to find a cop who will ask me to move on private property (doubt that happening). They can kiss my hee haw.

Spend $500-700 on fuel and then tell me about there no idle area.

    Kiss this
Dont use it dont need it

a lot of companies don't pay up front for it, but will reimburse you for the expense as does the company I work for. but they also pay for the motel if I choose to get one. given the choice, I'll take the motel. Idleaire dosn't have swimmming pools!!! But if it comes down to it I carry a card for them and don't mind using it.
