SNI is making the effort, when I first got on the account all we got was the daily show up pay if the load wasn't ready, when they realized that it would happen more frequently than they thought, they started paying us layover. There is an open lot nearby, the Obetz OC LMAO. It is only 3 miles away. Monday when my load wasn't ready I went to the OC and waited for my DBL to come in, gave her a call and she had me go back to GY and haul 3 of the late loads, which were now ready, back over to the OC and drop them. So I got paid for driving over those 3 loads, my show up pay, and layover. If your load isn't ready, the first thing she does is check the system CPU to see if there are any local loads they need help with. She sent me to WM in Grove City once to pick up a load and relay to the OC. She honestly does everything she can to make sure you don't get screwed, she is just as frustrated as the drivers when the loads aren't ready.

cool. so , so far it's rare that you are covering other accounts? I guess by that time of day the JCP is out although we've been running International Paper loads back to JCP with raw boxes from MT Vernon and Delaware (JCP now has a few system trailers on site for this purpose). Sears would be out too. What about day loads for WM? or Honda?
Trying to get a better sense of Ops than I had for JCP. -
I have only covered JCP once since being on this account, but it wasn't because my load wasn't ready, JCP needed help. If there are any loads available if yours isn't ready, the DBl will try to find you one. One of the biggest problems is, our DBL is on central time, which means she doesn't come to work until 8am our time....and the dedicated after hours support people will NOT tell you not to take the load, they aren't allowed to make that call, so you have to wait till 8 to find another load, which kinda sucks.

To be a SNI OTR Tanker how close to a terminal do you need to live? Is Phoenix terminal a location? Reason why I ask is because Vegas is a hiring area, but no terminal here.
-
I can see how it can suck another way too. You've started your 14 by the time you find out the load isn't ready.
-
I was sent to my OC, I have a scheduled safetrack and maintenance on the 26th, I was hoping to get another load in seeing as its the 23rd but theyve pushed my NAT to the 27th. Am I allowed to idle my truck? My truck seems to run out of juice overnight even with the heater on low... its going to suck if I have to sit here for 3 days.
-
if its below 20 you can. Have the electric power issue written up during your maintenance unless you have one of the older trucks due to be taken out of service and sold in the near future. If thats the case, lobby your DBL for a newer truck. Seems BS they are making you sit too. I'd call in to see if theres a shortish run you can so in the meantime.

What do you Schneider drivers haul in those short little doubles? I see them on I-5 all the time but they cant be any taller than 10-11'
-
yep, which makes having to wait for the dbl to come in suck more. By the time she comes in you already wasted 4-5 hours on your 14, 6 hours if you have the early clinton load.
