amen to you people starting rumors on the cb drives me nuts.
-
First off, you seem rather new to the boards, so I will let this combative slam go for now, and ask that when you address me, you do it without the animosity. I did nothing to you pal.
Yes, a Swift owned school. also I found this on a couple of other boards.
"I am an independent author and researcher who decided to do some fact
checking on my own, and have several contacts in Tennessee state law
enforcement. Contrary to the public statements issued by Dave Berry,
spokesperson for Swift Corporation of Phoenix, Arizona, sources close
to the investigation, speaking on background and on condition of
anonymity, stated that "the relationship between Swift Corporation and
this trucking school IS A VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE ONGOING
INVESTIGATION". My sources made it plain that "law enforcement
agencies involved in the investigation HAVE NOT DETERMINED WHETHER OR
NOT SEARCH WARRANTS OR SUBPEONAS WILL BE ISSUED TO EMPLOYEES AND
FACILITIES OF SWIFT TRANSPORTATION'S PARENT COMPANY, SWIFT CORPORATION
OF PHOENIX, ARIZONA. As such, it is too early to determine whether or
not Swift Corporation will be a major focus of the investigation". At
this time, the investigation is ongoing, and my sources refused
further comment"
[WiseOne Edit: NO links to that site, please]
Might I remind you that commerical trucking is governed by the USDOT. And although you are correct in that they can not say to SWIFT "shut down" they sure can ground their fleet.
Fines are just a small part of it.
The government would be just fine, tax wise. Fore the freight lost by SWIFT's exit would sure be picked up by others who would then pay those very taxes. As for not knowing about what I say, it seems your ignorance is trumping any I may show.
Yeah? And what's your solution know it all?

From Transport Topics March 3 issue: "The U.S. Attorney and the FBI state that Swift is not the target of the investigation. The investigation includes a Tennesee licensing agency. Swift also operates training centers in San Antonio, Phoenix, Kansas City, Richmond, Troutdale and Lewiston."
The only schools under investigation along with the Tennessee Licensing office are the two in Tennessee. This sounds similar to a problem they turned up in New Mexico a few years back when some state Motor Vehicle Division personnel were basically selling CDL's. The hammer fell primarily on the licensing agency. Obviously, if it were a Swift problem the other schools would have been raided as well.
The article you list above has the usual "anonymous" source. Anonymous sources are suspect in a majority of situations. -
The investigation doesn't seem to be over either. Maybe we should wait for the final conclusion before letting them off the hook, no?
As for the rest, Anonymus sourcing is how news is gathered in this country. The suspicion only seems to be from those who the news hurts.

See, most people want everyone to give them the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to someone else having a problem, we want to "hang 'em" even before all the facts are investigated. Why not give them the same benefit of the doubt you would like given to you, j-mac? That would be a whole lot better and raise less issues then coming out and condemning someone before the whole story comes out.
And, yes the news people like to gather "news" from anonymous sources because they are all wanting a "scoop" on the news and will get anything they can, often coercing stories, just to be the first to report it. But think about the fact that most often those anonymous sources are not in the complete know, they just want to spill what they have heard. This is the case in the majority of situations and most times their "facts" are found to be suspect and often times outright incorrect when all is said and done. -
CRST was looking into aquring FFE also, but it fell thur. Which is good for FFE drivers. This I know for a fact.
