Man, Just gotta throw in the Cobra 29. It was my first. Still got it out in the shop.
Keep in mind though, that in some of the newer trucks, the cb cubby hole will only hold a Cobra 29 or smaller radio.

    TroyD Thanks this.

Troy D- Also keep this in mind. Your antenna is just as important as your radio. Don't skimp on your antenna set up.

    Turbo-T and TroyD Thank this.

Go with one of the Uniden or Cobra model CBs: If your cubby hole is to small, usually all you need is a allen wrench to remove the liner and then you will be able to fit a larger cb. As one post has said, your antenna will make all the difference in the world. Invest in a steel coil antenna such as the smaller Browning coil, the viper, or the small Monkey Made coil, etc. Aim High

    TroyD Thanks this.

Just buy good quality coax, try not to pinch it in the door, buy a nice uniden radio and a good fiberglass antenna, don't waste your time with a browning antenna....if you must get a coil antenna go with a predator.

The Cobra 29 is good too. I only say the Cobra 25 because the 29 the only difference it has over the 25 is the useless built in SWR meter and the really useless delta tune knob. (only good for if you plan to install an echo board)

Oh and I agree the Uniden is better built than the Cobra. Only reason why everyone swears by the Cobra is back in the 70's and 80's and early 90's Uniden was building their boards for them, until Uniden upped the price, then Cobra started having Maxon build their boards. You almost never hear of anyone swearing by a Maxon.

Cobra 25. Carry one as a spare. It's tuned and a good talker. Worry more about the antenna. Can make a cheapo sound great and a $500 10 meter sound terrible.
