101 reasons why drivers dont scale
#1 CUZ YA CANT fix stooopid.......
to be continued -
I'm at .42, that doesn't mean that I'm paying for a scale out of my pocket!
I dont know know about other companies, but Melton says that they charge scale costs back to shipper/receiver.
Ive be always been reimbursed for scales. -
well of course i shouldnt have to pay and not be remibursed for a company trucks scale ticket, HOWEVER as the driver i/u are responsible for being legal.....if i work for an outfit that doesnt pay for or reimburse i am finding another job
Mrh2008 Thanks this. -
if a person has pulled enough loads they can usually tell if it's not right. If I set my tandems according 2 the book I created and it still don't pull right 2 me I will scale at the risk of not being paid back by my company then I find out that I had it perfect it was just the way they had it loaded that made it feel funky. Then the next week I don't get my 9.50 back. my company take their time. On giving money back and I don't go thru the trouble of getting a advance majority of time I forget. Then company want their .50 back quick and hurry but my company take their time refunding the 9.50 it's not a lot if I do it every now and then my company allow u 2 get a $30 advance a week and I average 5-8 a loads a week those 9.50 a load adds up this is why I don't scale I just go 2 my little book.

We scale anything over 35,000.
What I've learned is that when your assigned a truck to slide your 5th wheel to say the 3rd slot. Then 8 out of 10 times if you stick the tandems in holes 9 thru 11 it will scale out. We used to haul 40,000 + on a regular basis. Once you know the sweet spots then all your doing is scaling for piece of mind.
We recently got on a dedicated account. Most loads are under 25,000 & never over 30,000. Not having to find a scale is nice. -
thats the thing....we dont usually scale unless its 38,000 or more. if it pulls hvy, older drivers know what i mean, and the bills say its light...scale it. anytime we dropped a loaded trl, we always lft a copy of the scale ticket with the bills and the amount of fuel we had on and what type of trk we were in...

even a company that wont pay scale tickets
I think it is my $10 well spent -
Simple solution--only run loads that pay by weight--that way you know your overgross--so y bother? See simple
I am allergic to scales anyway--dot cops gimme a rash--so I tend to avoid them--so once again--simple--stay away from chicken house--avoid unsightly skin problems--no need to scale
Yall make things SO complicated----sheeshGiggles the Original and Boardhauler Thank this. -
Off subject a little , I've never had this problem but I thought I'd ask you my friends. Your home and get the call to pick up your 1st load of the week, after loading , fueling , and scaling . Lets say it is all great at the 8th hole on the trailer! Now the MAXIMUM pin settings ( trailer ) for were your going ( California ) is the ( 5th hole ) , What do you do ?........ And can someone send me to a site were I can print the chain requirements per state.... You guys are all great and I hope you had a good thanksgiving .... GOD Bless ................................................
