Another good choice is the Plantronics Voyager. It's a good one for being off the truck too as it doesn't make you look like you just quit your job at the McDonald's drive through window, lol.
WI Cupcake, DoneYourWay and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Just yell out the window

Here's the thing with many headsets, at least most of the ones that I have tried, they either receive great or they transmit great, but it's hard to find one that does both well.
I have a Blue Parrot and it does both very well.
Before I got the Blue Parrot I tried several (haven't tried any in a few years since settling on the BP) and the biggest problem with the cheap ones is that they pick up lots of background noise. So if you're trying to talk while fueling and the truck next to you is idling all they can hear on the other end is the idling truck. Then I tried a couple of noise canceling headsets (including a Plantronics) that worked great for blocking background noise but the ear piece volume was too low and I couldn't hear the other party.
So My advice is to get one at a place where you can easily return it for a full cash refund. You might have to try a few before you find one that you like. Blue Parrot also makes one that does not go over your head.
I almost never have anyone complain about the quality of my calls since getting the BP. In fact, I think the first time was during the tornadoes that went through the midwest recently, my wife was getting annoyed with the wind noise when I got out of the truck to fuel.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Road King 400 for when I'm in the truck, Plantronics Voyager when I'm not. I hate the space cadet/drive-thru attendant look, but those things just flat work in the noisy truck environment.
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Blue Parrot. I run a '79 K100 and no one can hear the engine, wind, road or Jake brake noise when I'm running with the windows down...and I can still hear them!
Do me a favor...wear the headset when you need to. Leave it in the truck when you are out of the truck. We used to actually survive without these stupid things; reconnect with planet earth when you're out of the truck please. There are enough nig-nogs who walk around seemingly oblivious and talking to themselves...including in the frickin' head.
If the person on the other end only knew....UGH!BigHossVolvo, Go-Go, sevenmph and 2 others Thank this. -
I've been using the built in Bluetooth that Volvo incorporated into the audio system. Not bad for what it is.
My Voyager broke and I haven't replaced it.Skydivedavec Thanks this.
