This is a whiny post. Just warning you now so you can carry on with your regularly scheduled program.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. In my little slice of heaven, Thanksgiving is always held at my house because I tend to throw the biggest spread. Dinner is usually something that has taken the better part of two weeks to prepare.
I even have a cookbook that I keep all my secret recipes in that has already been the focus of several nasty skirmishes. Its my bible. I miss it. I miss cooking. On the truck I have tried to compensate but cooking on a desk just isnt the same. So... this sucks.
In other news, I still cant even drive thru my old hometown without having severe panic attacks. So for the time being, it just sucks to be me. -
OR1 is certainly an interesting experience.

Sitting at the shipper in Illinois. Got here late bc Stevens set pickup for today at 0900. Well 0900 we were delivering in the suburbs of Detroit lol. Oh well. The shipper is being their usual selves. And me? I got Hatfield & McCoys to watch.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Flue, holidays are tough on everyone in one way or another.
The best advice I can give you is to go out of your way to help someone else thru the holidays. On thursday, buy someone a piece of pumpkin pie or a cup of coffee (pumpkin spice?) as a kindness to them.
Concentrate on those blessings that turkey can't cover...those things you are truely thankful for.
Most won't say it, but there are many (newer) drivers out there that are in this business because there just wasn't anything else out there for them. This is their last ditch attempt at work...for many reasons, not the least of which are older workers that have been displaced from lifelong careers that no longer exist.
If you are one of these (and I'm speaking to any reader, not just Flue), be thankful for what you have, not what you don't have.
And go out of your way to be kind to another driver just to express that thankfulness.
I remember a Christmas many years ago where I was away from home and feeling pretty glum. I had the morning conversation with my kids who were all under 11 years old at the time and asking why I can't be home.
Another driver, sensing my glumness bought me a cup of coffee and simply said, "Merry Christmas and thanks for what you do."
I was at the Baker Truck Stop in Baker City OR. That random act picked me up and meant a lot.
Do the same for others. It really helps.
And to all of you out there this week...Thank you, sincerely, for all you do.KMac, capper17, discodubber and 9 others Thank this. -
Yea if I could get out of this Texas/Wisconsin freight lane that'd be great. However I met my mileage requirements today. Now I need one mountain and the NE. Happy early thanksgiving everyone!

Happy bird day to all, I'm picking up my first student tomorrow, yay! Did I mention I got talked into a new truck? At about 600 miles on the odometer (I got it with 29 on it) I get a check engine light. "Error code: Code unrecognized, resolve at next service." Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Doesn't SEEM to affect the drive, so I'm ignoring it until further notice.

Curb...how did you rack up 8000 miles already? I'm barely at 4000 lol

Those extra laps around the truck stop parking lots looking for a pull-through.
DDC Thanks this.
