SO husband will be laid off from his job on Jan 1st. We will loose our medical insurance and pay of course. We called our local unemployment office and they said they will pay for $3500 of CDL school for him, but they only use Roadmaster in Tampa. We have heard so many bad things about them, but if this is his only way of getting his CDL so he can have a job is it really that bad? We have two special needs children and just can't go without a job for him, and this seems like an opportunity to get a career to do something.

Roadmaster is a good school, study hard & get all the endorsements!
There was an article on this website at one time that Roadmaster is rated as one of the top 3 private CDL schools in the nation.

I graduated from roadmaster on 08 I went 2 the west memphis ar campus. It's a 16 day program. The.one I went 2 the people were real nice in office. They help u get as many pre hires as possible. It's a all day program 7-7. Monday - saturday. U are in class room 1st week getting permit. 2nd week out on yard and on road. 3ext week polishing up everything u learn then test out. They will fix it where u graduate on friday and monday u will be in orientation. But it is stressful. For me I had 2 learn how 2 shift and I had difficulty with the serpentine backing. When I graduated I still owed them 2500. Its expensive but it's worth getting cdl in 16 days. I could have went 2 a 3 month program but I had a family 2 take care of and I needed 2 work. I finished on a friday had orientation set up for that following Monday
Good luck!!!!Trakehner Thanks this. -
Thank you everyone~! Whatever it takes for him to get his CDL and get a good job to support us as a family is what we will do. 7-7 is fine and then he would have an hour drive home, not a big deal at all for us. I use to be married to a UPS delivery man and late work hours I am very use to. LOL

+1 On Roadmaster.
I graduated from the West Memphis facility as well. August 2011
Good people and will help any way possible.
Just make sure he researches the companies looking to hire, some have a long student program others not so much.
Student drivers do not get paid the same as their graduate and senior drivers, make sure you can get by on their "estimated" minimum income.
Good luck,
