I am new to this site, and this will be my first posting on here and I am not sure exactly where to post it at! I'm not exactly a newbie as I do have 6 1/2 years of driving experience, but do not currently have a CDL. I had a Texas Class A license from 1998 thru 2005. I have worked for a few OTR companies both Major companies as well as for a few Small Independents/Owner Operators for 3 1/2 years OTR and 3 years Local/Regional plus drove for a few small local companies in Texas. I do not have any verifiable driving experience since 2005. I also got 2 DUI'S back in 2004, that are now 9 years old plus a speeding ticket in 2004 as well. That is all I have on my Driving Record!!! I currently have a Class C Texas License and have recently re-located back home to Oregon. I would like to go back to Truck Driving and need to get my CDL. Problem is #1 is that I have no access to a tractor/trailer to take the road test in. #2 I have been told that I have to wait 10 years to get rid of those DUI's and no one will hire me at all right now with the DUI's plus no recent experience in last 3 years. So I don't need a dang school again or desire to pay out $3000 and sign some years contract with someone that wants to pay me like a NEW RECRUIT... #3 A school even those so called IN-house training companies won't guarantee a job offer prior to signing with them. So where do I post this to getthe answers I'm looking for?

Just read the forum description under each forum and pick the one you think it fits best. If it is a bad fit no biggie, we'll move it and under the forum subtitles you will see a link left behind that will take you to it's new forum.
If you can't still find it then view your forum posts and you can find it that way. You can do that from your profile or click on your name on an old post.
This forum is fine since it's already here or experienced truckers advice. You are 50/50.
Even if you had you CDL you'll have to go through refresher training which means going back out with a trainer until he signs you off. I don't see why a company that would give you a chance wouldn't help you with a road test. DUI rehires vary, some 7 years some 10 years. You definitely have to follow the return to duty regulations which means you have to get signed off by a SAP (Substance Abuse Professional). That is your first step. Your next steps would be to get your medical card and CDL permit and hopefully find your first job in OR.
You will have to get on the phone and start talking to companies is the only way you will find out. -
Post questions on "Experienced Drivers Advice."
Many, many changes since you quit driving in 2005. You can find a job, that's no problem, but you have to jump through the hoops these days. First you have to get the CDL-A along with a DOT physical & some formal training. These days the insurance companies approve new hires. Try Swift refresher course, then shop around for companies that will hire you. You may not like the first company you go with, but stick it out for a year and you will be OK. Many experienced drivers are surprised at what is required to get back on the road these days. -

How do I move this thread from one forum to another?
-
You dont. You need to create a thread where you want it to be.
A moderator will move it if it is in an inappropriate forum.
Most users here read through most of the forums so I wouldn't worry about it too much. -
You can't move it, I'll move it to http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/experienced-truckers-advice/ I think it might fit a little better in there.dragon76082 Thanks this.

I really don't need any formal training as I already had that in 1998 with the first company I went to work for was trained by and got my CDL through CRST. Also, I have worked for JB Hunt, Gainey, and Western Express.....The DUI's are 9 years old, and I also went thru a 30 day Rehab back in 2009 so I have documentation for that.

you've been out of a truck for more then 3 years. Be prepared to go back to school all over again and then training with a trainer. Insurance companies will require this.
Most insurance companies for the mega fleets will not even accept a 40 hour refresher any more.
I know from experience, I held a valid class a and a med card and still had to go back to school for a 160 hour course. after spending 3 years behind a desk.
