A couple days ago, I stopped overnight at that Petro on i85, exit 160 in Georgia. Had my leveling valve crap out on me. Went to the Petro shop to price another leveling valve, and they wanted $209 for it. Holy smokes! The guy at the counter asked me how much do I usually pay for them (I like to carry a spare) and I told him $65. I knew they marked their parts up, but $209???

Anyways, stopped off at the KW in Baytown, picked up a spare leveling valve, a new air dryer, and a case of 4 inch straps.

    Truck is parked.

I'm headed to my deer stand in WI. Might have to find some place to have a few beers tonight.

Home, won't be getting that 4 axle truck.........maybe in the spring. Company wants me to hook onto a 3 axle RGN first, then go to a 4 axle truck with the 3 axle trailer later. What really sucks is a good friend of mine has all his ducks in a row to purchase my truck, he even has a driver already lined up for it. Not sure what to do there, thinking about selling him mine and finding another one for the mean time.

    MJ1657 and SHC Thank this.

Is it an experience thing or just not a need for another 4 axle in the fleet?

Could you buy the truck you were looking at and remove the axle for now? My guess is the rest of the truck would be to heavy for 3 axle work?

Buy the 4 axle and take off the lift axle for now. Easy solution

    Both

I could, but it would be to heavy, it weighs about 29,000 as it sits now, removing the lift axle would only knock off about 1500lbs? I have thought about this though.

Buy the 4 axle and just run 6 axle loads. No point in spending money and then spending more later.

I'm home for the week. Leave out Sunday night and head for Indy. Then I'll be grabbing an OD load to FL on Tuesday morning.

He's right. Measure twice, cut once.
