I have been looking at TMC lately and have checked on this site for a lot of info.
If anyone is there now or has been recently can you share some info about the Company as it is today.
I hear the trucks are nice but slow.
Can you get a lot of loads out west and back from Indiana area.
i am 59 yrs old and know flatbed driving is a lot more physical than some other types of trucking, but is it really that bad.
What about tarping in the bad weather,snow,rain.........
And most of all the pros and cons for the people who have worked there.
I have searched the threads here and wonder what people like about flatbed over other types of trucking.
Any new info out here ?

Hey Dennisroc. I drove for TMC for about 2 1/2 years. There is a certain allure to driving for TMC. They have a really great training program. But you should know that orientation is a lot like boot camp. They don't call it the Truckers Marine Corps (TMC) for nothing. They will push you to stay out weekends and also push you towards percentage pay over being paid by the mile. Mileage pay is better by far. They LOVE tarp loads. They are very "Big Brother" to the drivers. You cant fart without them getting wind of it. I drove a 2006 379 my entire time with them. They were about to start issuing the new 579 but I left just before I was placed in one of those. None of the trucks other than the 579 has an APU on them and idle time is watched very close. So you can freeze or burn up or get called on your idle time constantly. I left for another flatbed company that is much smaller, the pay is much better and I have never been happier. I wouldn't do anything other than flatbedding. Its a mans man trucking. That's my feeling anyway. I love the work and getting outside and active. Also, you will lose weight. I lost about 20 pounds and I have friends that have lost much more. Best of luck and feel free to drop me a message if you have any more questions.

Tarping is really fun when its got ice all over it and the wind is blowing 20-30 mph lol.

Seems like there should be a better way. I have been watching videos on YouTube but it is always nice weather,I would like to see a video like you say, ice and winds blowing to 30 mph. -
Melton Truck Lines has the best healthcare for driver & family and avg. $50K per year.

To be honest I would trust any of ones post. It's one of those deals I've found out that everyone has different opinions and most reviews on all companies are negative. Best advice is go out and found out yourself or not your choice but asking others doesn't really help.
