USF Holland, quick question

maybe because it's part of the YRC group who have been "on the verge" of bankruptcy for about 6 years.......
or, because they are teamsters and in some situations / locations, being a card carrying teamster pretty much excludes you from any other non-union driving job (I KNOW it does in south GA), forever and always.......
or, maybe because they had to make wage concessions that made them one of the worst paying LTL jobs in the business
or, maybe because, since they don't have any money, they drive some of the junkiest stuff on the road (only rivaled by Central Transport)

could be lots of reasons, really.......but right now is not the time to go into the LTL business......wait till March or so

It probably doesn't mean anything. USF barn in Bowling Green, OH kept running ads about city positions, called one night and was told they just laid off a bunch of people that if they needed anyone they would hire them back first.

 

Probably better ltl jobs out there without the risk...it just sucks when yoy get your check and see hoe much your giving back just to work there...which I was not r old about when I hired on...might fault for not doing my homework

those are the top 3 in my (and most other people's book). But there are plenty of local / regional companies that are plenty good too.
Know this, and know this well, if you're the kind of person who thrives on micro-management down to what color your belt buckle and socks are, LTL is the way to go. If you are excited about having enough work rules that rival teamster organizations, but with none of the protections, you will love LTL.
Personally, I worked in management for 2 of the above 3 companies. And while, indeed, the pay is top drawer, the benefits are superior to any other driving job out there, and you are home every day / night and every weekend, there is a steep price to pay. But, lots of folks like it.......which is why their collective turnover rate averages 6% and truckload carriers dance in the streets when theirs get below 100%.

I would watch CWF though, they pretty much make you drink the CWF cool-aid and try to make you believe they are the best to work for, then treat you like dirt. I have told other guys I work with who complain about whatever that they still have it good. FXF I dont know too much about. Old Dominion is good, but I have heard from a freind who worked there that there isnt any overtime until after 60 hours.

Conway would be at the very bottom of my list... I would stay away from them...
