MVT of Los Crusis , NM. 9.3 mpg fleet wide avg. running the interstate. ( spell check pls ) Pro Stars, hub caps, single screws with tags or pushers ( dunno which ) and all kinds of flaps and skirts all over trailers. Clearly the leader at 9.3 avg.
Also reported that MVT gives a new Harley every qtr. to best mpg driver. Need to ask a driver to confirm that tho.....

Sorry, i was a bit busy with work and Thanksgiving with family. I'll answer some questions I saw without going back through and quoting them individually.
First, there's mostly only one guy that drives this truck and he's been told if it affects his driving in any way it gets pulled off immediately. We only have two Internationals, which this is on one, and every driver avoids them like the plague. Most of us will wait for another truck to come in.
To the person that asked the manufacturer, it's Jost.
Someone else pointed out it changes at different speeds. I think it's 55 mph that it gets the closest and want to say it starts moving at 45 mph. I might be off on those numbers though.
I know a lot of people threw weight around as being a problem. For one, we generally pull no more than 15,000 pounds and even that is heavy. We do have loads that gross out but I don't think he does them much. As someone said, scales wouldn't be too much of an issue other than PrePass due to the speeds the system changes. With our low weights I doubt that would even be a problem.
To whoever was talking about the ride, we're talking about daycabs. There is no nice ride.
Most the things you guys are saying about it are the same thing all of us bring up. It's a test unit and was given to us. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I guess we'll see what happens this winter.Last edited: Nov 29, 2013

never heard of such a beast. Makes me wonder how much fuel it will really save versus the cost, maintenance and repair of a complicated idea.... wait, maybe its contolled by a computer, then its all good if a computer works it. We all know computers are smarter than us, and never fail! Right?
Someone mentioned about air bags inflating at a certain speed to close off the gap, that sounds promising.
I saw a B train at a Canadian truck show, and it had a heavy material inflated between the two tank trailers. Kinda like the bouncy castle material....lol. -
So I drove this truck yesterday. I was pretty surprised that there was no feeling or sound when it happens. Just a light on the dash lights up.
I will say I didn't like it on off ramps. If the ramp is the right speed it will start retracting back while you're in the curve of the ramp. I think that is enough for me to not want it. -
What would happen is that there would be much more trucks running much heavier weights on their steers at highway speeds. Summertime, there would be much more steer tyres separating. A couple really bad rollovers and a couple families wiped out and it would be a feeding frenzy on all of us because some Beancounter at some doorslammer outfit thought it was a good idea.
