Probably for the same reason that's got me ready to clean my truck out. Lazy and inconsiderate drivers that dont get stuff fixed on these trailers. Bad enough that drivers are destroying them in wrecks and they aren't getting replaced. Couldn't even begin to figure up how much time and money I've lost this year cause of our trailers.

Biggare, I feel the same way as you. It's a huge problem. It's added work & delay to those drivers who care about their job.

I lost the whole day today but I can't blame anyone for today. Hooked to an empty that was due for an inspection this month and since I was close to the Springfield yard, breakdown had me bring it here. I feel you on it affecting those of us that take pride in what we do. I think they should give those that have a proven track record of taking care of the equipment permanently assigned trailers. I would gladly sit through live loads/unloads just to know I got a good trailer. The big thing here lately is tires low on air, guess a lot of these drivers here dont realize that below a certain pressure its considered flat and/or can be considered overloaded. Just depends on what kind of mood the D.O.T. officer is in that day. Maybe they need to establish an auditing program just to see what these trainers are teaching exactly.

We started doing Ceva dedicated a few weeks ago. We pull their trailers. US Xpress needs to do what Ceva does. They have guys at their locations whose job is to drive around the lot inspecting & fixing trailers all day & night.

US Xpress doesn't have the greatest safety score & with the turnover so high....I think it would be in the companies best interest to do this.

When we did reefer, we would pick up trailers with no engine oil in the thermo king.

One time a team we were repowering brought a trailer that had a light out. The wire was cut. He told me I should get it fixed if I'm worried about getting a ticket. This was the middle of the night. I wouldn't let him leave until HE fixed. Turned out he was a trainers. His student learned that night how to wire a light.

When we picked up our new truck....it had no Def in it. I had to fill it at the terminal. I don't understand why some drivers just don't fill it when you fuel. It takes an extra minute.

Biggare, our very first load was for Cardinal Health in Illinois. We drop the trailer then see this other USX team looking at this empty then looking at us. They get another empty & leave. I walk over to the empty. It's got a flat and when I check with USX .....no one reported it. Such a simple thing.

I can go on with stories like this.

US Xpress has never given us problems getting things fixed.

Truckduo I dont understand it either, breakdown has never given me any grief about taking trailers in for repairs. Ive even ran my clock out taking trailers to shops for them. I have often thought about them certifying the drivers that would be willing to be mobile repair techs and giving them the parts to keep with them for that type of thing. I do keep spare bulbs, pigtails, bolts, and mudflaps with me but brakes and tires and she has to go to a shop. Most of the T/A and Petro's dont carry the shoes that our trailers take so if you go in late at night, its usually the next day before they can get them. Was that Cardinal in Waukegan, IL?

That's a nice place, staff there is very friendly and polite. The gate setup is a little different, forget how long I sat there getting upset before I realized there wasn't anyone in the guard shack lol!
