Why are you guys staying out over a month just to get home for xmas? Is it that hard to get home that week?

One more day off tomorrow, then back at it. Can't decide whether to come home in a couple weeks, than xmas, or just stay out. Doesn't the company like to get most drivers home for xmas?

There is no such thing as Xmas. Why take Christ out of it? If there is an Xmas, is there also an xgiving? An xoween? An x of July? An x years day? Xster?

CHRISTmas is the holiday that gets the x because the godless want to take God out of everything. I'm not saying anyone here is godless. I am saying you're unwittingly advancing their agenda when you use their terminology.

I understand how you feel, I'm a Christian. However, from what I understand, it was early church leaders that used the X to show reverence for Christ, as they felt spelling the name so casually was not respectful.

You shouldn't have trouble getting home for Christmas IF you have home time coming. I believe what some are doing is extending their time away to ensure home time during the holiday (otherwise might have to go back out the day before or something like that) and also to give the planners plenty of notice.

Makes sense. I was out for 16 days before Thanksgiving and got 4 days off. After 3 weeks I'm ready to get the hell away from my truck. If I stayed out from the 2nd to the 23rd that would be about my max. I'll probably do that.

if I get home the 24th ill have been out 36 giving me 7 off, worst case get home 23rd for 6 off.

I have no life so staying out works for me ;) , I feel less than 5 off is not worth it. 1st day off youre burned out and cleaning out truck, last day youre finishing laundry etc. and packing up the truck...

as a bonus, I am usually 2 weeks ahead on paychecks when I stay out 24+ consistently

    DirkSteel Thanks this.

I can certainly see why you do it. As far as the no life, that's why I couldn't do it. Hell I miss my friends and family being out two weeks let alone a month +. Just feels like life is flying by without me sometimes when I'm out there too long.

From information I received the #1 reason for people leaving OTR is hometime...it is not Roehl specific, just the nature of the beast that is OTR. This plays a large roll in the 100% or more per year turnover ratio in the industry. It also makes our CDL qualifications highly desired and gives us the ability to change avenues to meet our own needs. I'm not sure what your talking about popsicles but I was thinking more like a roadside gyro sandwich joint. lmao
