Nailed it. It would be the reason I left if I decide to after my one year. Would jump all over something that would let me burn up my 70 Mon-Fri and home weekends.

There are also those of us, for various reasons, have chosen or choose to stay out for longer periods. I am currently one of those and I am beginning to see some of the financial benefits of that..nearing my year mark dispatch and other company management is a breeze. Roehls a smart company and knows how profitable a driver is. Although i cannot specifically pin any one incident to this theory, it seems that the flow works into the favor of those who stay out. It is true that it must be far easier to plan the truck that stays out for longer periods.

Are you meaning that you understand them or that you can even manipulate them.

It goes like this, I had a driver. We'll call him Pat, because his name was Pat. Anyways, Pat would stay our for like 100 days a time and I made sure all the planners were aware of that. He turned solid miles and when he was ready to go home we'd bend over backwards for him. It's all about that theory of the emotional bank account, and the hours and hours upon hours of training we go on that. If you always ask for a favors (making withdrawals) and never give favors (deposits) you get overdrawn is essentially what it comes down to. Anyways, in this case Pat was like a kabillionaire so when he said "It's my money and I want it now!" we were all like JG Wentworth and gave it to him. Ok so we weren't like JG Wentworth at all, we were just like here's your money.
DsquareD, jeepnut_nh and goblue Thank this. -
Yep, and it works both ways too. Drivers who take and take aren't going to get too far when they need to make that extra "withdrawal".goblue Thanks this.

Back in the truck at Marshfield after hometime. Had to leave the truck in Marshfield rather than the normal St. Paul yard, as my clutch started acting weird on my trip from Gary to Marshfield just before hometime. (Intermittently engaging when pedal was only an inch off the floor.) Have my DOT physical in the morning then hopefully there's a load after that.

I like getting home for a couple nights each week so Roehl/Kraft dedicated works for me. Usually have at least two nights (reset) on the weekend and another night during the week with a load. Getting 200 more miles/wk than when I was national and stayed out 11-14 days. More D&H so less sitting watching the 14 run, but pay is a penny or two less/mi so ends up the same.
jeepnut_nh and technoroom Thank this. -
